About this property

Nestled on a Tuscan hillside between the beautiful valleys the Val D’Orcia and Val di Chiana you will find Cento Petali. This 6-bedroom home is an ideal blend of old and new; with chic, modern interiors behind the wonderfully preserved historic walls.

As you approach Cento Petali through the two acres of fenced gardens you will be able to appreciate the peace and quiet that this rural idyll offers. With rolling hills to one side and woodland to the other you can spend your days unwinding, surrounded by wild roses and looking out for the local hares, deer and cuckoos. The garden here is a real highlight and blends seamlessly with the nearby farmland. Whether you wish to spend your time swimming in the private pool or cooking al-fresco using produce from the gardens this is a fabulous space for your whole party to enjoy.

Stepping indoors, the interiors are just as lovely as the grounds; the light and airy rooms are filled with high-quality furnishings and the walls are lined with contemporary art work from the owner’s gallery. The ground floor is the heart of the home with two connected living rooms and a large dining room which is perfect for eating together as a group. Two of the elegant bedrooms can also be found on this floor, these rooms are both en-suite and have doors onto the garden. Upstairs there are 4 more bedrooms to choose from and each is a serene space to recharge. Why not have a long soak in the bath tub after a busy day.

The home has everything you need to make your stay even more comfortable, including Wi-Fi, Air conditioning, a fully-fitted kitchen, satellite TVs and even a gym in a separate annexe.

As well as countryside to explore by foot or by bike, there is lots to see and do in this area of Tuscany. There are countless historic towns and villages dotted around amongst the green farmland, the nearest of which is Sarteano at just 6km away. If you need to pick up some groceries then the village is a short drive away.

Sarteano is more than a quick pit-stop however and this medieval village is somewhere you should visit for an afternoon. The village has a good range of shops, cafes and restaurants but also has a number of attractions like the Renaissance palace which contains a fascinating archaeological museum. You can also visit the 1000-year-old castle which overlooks the whole area and now hosts art exhibitions, though you can still see the draw bridge and medieval prison cells! If you visit during the summer months then keep an eye out for Sarteano’s medieval festivals where you will see parades, plays and jousts with all of the participants in authentic middle-ages costumes.

If you wish to make the most of the great outdoors then you can play tennis or golf or head out on a horse-trek all in under a 20km radius. Alternatively the vast wine estates of Montepulciano are just 26km away, visit a family-run vineyard to spend the day in nature sampling some of the region’s finest wines and learn all about how they are produced.

There are many more places you can visit within easy reach from villages such as Cetona (13km away) the town of Pienza (28km away) and the beaches of Lake Trasimeno (39km away).

Cento Petali is enviably located amidst the rolling hills of the Val di Chiana and Val D’Orcia in Tuscany. With lush, green countryside everywhere you look and a wealth of attractive villages and towns to explore, this is a great base for your getaway with family or friends.

Though the house is surrounded by stunning farmland, you are only 6km away from Sarteano village which you can reach by car in just a short journey. This quaint village has a castle, palace, museum and charming churches which you can visit plus a range of shops, restaurants and bars. Sarteano is a lovely place to wander around and is really handy to have so nearby.

Around 13km from the villa you can also discover the town of Cetona which is located at the bottom of Monte Cetona. Ranked amongst Italy’s most beautiful towns, this is a fabulous place to explore on foot. The heart of the town is the Piazza Garibaldi which is a stunning 16th century square where you will find places to eat, drink and shop, as well as pretty churches and fountains to admire. Find somewhere to stop and try some of the excellent local produce such as the honey, beef and olive oil. The town has a number of attractions, including the Civic Museum which focuses on the human settlement in this exact area through time. You can learn lots about the people who have lived in Cetona and there are artefacts dating all the way back to the Palaeolithic era 10,000 years ago. If you are interested in archaeology then there is also a terrific archaeological park just outside of town with great displays, caves and even an interactive Bronze age dig area which is fun for a family trip.

26km away is Montepulciano, a walled town which is almost 1500 years old. This is the place to visit if you are in need of some rest and relaxation as the town has a brilliant spa which offers beauty treatments and massages but also has a range of pools which utilise the local thermal springs. The therapeutic waters have lots of restorative properties and many visitors flock here to experience the healing properties for themselves. As well as the thermal springs, Montepulciano is known for its impressive architecture and historic buildings including its cathedral, the Gothic town hall and the staggering Temple of San Biagio and neighbouring rectory which hail from the 16th-century.
Another amazing place to visit for the day is Pienza which is a 28km drive from the villa. Pienza is regarded as the quintessential Renaissance town and was built with the wealth from Pope Pius II who came from the area. With panoramic views over the Orcia valley and some awe-inspiring buildings such as the Papal residence, Pienza should be high up on your list when on holiday in the region. A fun and unique way to see the town is by taking part in a food and wine tour; you can take in all of the famous sights with the expertise of a local tour guide while stopping off to try lots of tasty food and wine along the way which sounds like the ideal day out!

For something a little different why not visit Lake Trasimeno which is 39km away by car. This gorgeous lake is lined with an array of lake beaches, so you do not need to miss out on a day at the beach while on an inland holiday. Sunbathe, swim in the still water or try out some of the water sports on offer.

A stunning property overlooking spectacular views! Very private, secluded and quiet. The sunsets are really amazing! Everyone raves about the comfort of their bedrooms and multiple seating areas, both indoors and out, which allowed our group of 8 to spend quiet time, work, or read uninterrupted. The pool was one of everyone's favourite areas and we put the kitchen to good use several times only eating outside as the weather was perfect. We even had a chef come in and it was spectacular!!! Stay a week and have fun and you won't regret it.

My family and another family - 4 adults and 5 children - spent a wonderful week in this beautiful villa. The house is very charming and has a breathtaking view of Tuscany. The infinity pool was gorgeous and fun to make pizza in the wood fired oven while swimming. Our favourite part was enjoying meals all day on the outside porch. The house was pristine and very clean, and we had daily maid service that helped keep things tidy. We were a thirty minute drive from most of the places we wanted to visit and about 2 hours from the Rome airport. Our hosts were very helpful before and during the trip, offering local recommendations, answering our many, many questions, and even picking up some supplies for us before the trip. Our host accompanied us there to help us find it the first time. Our hosts provided cribs and high chairs which were much appreciated. But the house has a LOT of stairs, including in each bedroom, which may be difficult for some younger children.
