About this property

Casa Paparina is a chic, modern home located in the Puglian countryside. The house is enveloped by almond and olive trees and looks down over the dazzling Adriatic Sea and the town of Polignano a Mare.

As you enter the home, you will notice how spacious and bright the open-plan living and dining area is, as the light from the garden flows in through the vast windows. With elegant décor and comfy furnishings, this is a wonderful social space where you can dine together as a group or chat over a glass of local wine. As the sun sets, you can retire to one of the three bedrooms, including a master room with sea views and an en-suite bathroom. When utilising additional beds, the house is ideal for a family trip as it sleeps six or eight guests. The owners have taken care to provide all of the facilities you could need for a comfortable stay, including Wi-Fi, air conditioning, TVs and a fully-fitted kitchen.

Outdoors you will find a vast garden with an inviting L-shaped pool. Step out onto the veranda for fantastic sea views or dine al-fresco surrounded by fruit trees and lawns on the 2 acres of grounds.

When staying at Casa Paparina, you will have two fabulous towns nearby which have everything you could need for a great holiday. The closest is Polignano a Mare which is 6km away from the house. The town has a range of beaches, from family-friendly Blue Flag beaches to rugged, windswept bays and small swimming coves dotted along the endless coastline. You can also discover museums, galleries, churches and plenty of shops and eateries when you head inland and wander the gorgeous streets of the town.

Monopoli is also very close to the villa and is just 8km away. With some stunning beaches which are not as busy as those in Polignano a Mare, Monopoli is an excellent place to visit for days at the beach where you can try out water sports such as diving, sailing or windsurfing or just relax with a good book! If you would like to learn about the area's history, then visit the staggering castle, which was built in the 1500s. There are also some beautiful churches, such as the Church of Santa Maria and the incredible Gothic cathedral. As the sun sets, Monopoli has a good selection of bars dotted around the harbour, the perfect spot for a cocktail or a glass of wine after a busy day sightseeing.

A few more places you could visit include; Conversano, which is 13km away. This small ancient hill town is famous for its prestigious horses, which the former counts first bred; this town is off the beaten track and has a striking monastery you can visit and lovely spots for an authentic Puglian dinner. Ostuni, located 47km away, is a picturesque white-washed city, known as the white city, and is somewhere you will wish to spend a whole day as there is so much to see and do.

Casa Paparina is located in an enviable position, nestled amongst olive groves and Apulian farmland and yet under 8km away from Polignano a Mare and Monopoli, where you will find all of the amenities of the towns as well as breath-taking beaches.

The closest town to the villa is Polignano a Mare which is just 6km away by car. This stunning seaside town has some of Italy’s most photographed beaches, such as the Blue Flag Cala Porto beach framed by staggering limestone cliffs. This sweeping coastline goes on for miles, so if Cala Porto gets a little busy, you can visit a smaller swimming cove such as Ponte dei Lapilli which is a little further along. If you would like to get out onto the water, why not take a boat trip down the coast? The little boats can access amazing caves and swimming spots. In addition to its beaches, Polignano is also filled with shops, cafes and restaurants and has a pretty old town with many ancient churches, atmospheric piazzas and a brilliant art museum to discover.

8km away from the villa, you can uncover the charms of Monopoli, another historic coastal town which is slightly quieter than Polignano a Mare. There are some fascinating historic buildings to visit in Monopoli, including the beautiful cathedral, the Cattedrale Maria Santissima della Madia which is filled with medieval artwork and is one of Italy’s oldest cathedrals as it hails from 1107. You also won’t be able to miss Castello Carlo V, which was constructed in the 16th-century when Spanish powers occupied the town. It is possible to visit the castle and wander the towers, halls and former dungeons and take in amazing views over the sea. If you would like to stock up on some local produce for dinner, then visit the thriving market, which is held on a Tuesday, or if you would prefer to go to a restaurant, then head over to the port for some freshly caught seafood with panoramic views.

A lovely place to visit for the afternoon is Locorotondo which is 30km away and is one of Puglia’s nine spectacular whitewashed towns. Perched on a hill, this little town spirals out from the central church as the name “rotondo” or round describes. The town is close to the famous Trulli town of Alberobello, which is also well worth a visit and you could visit both within a day. Due to this proximity, Locorotondo is often bypassed by tourists, which leaves the town feeling more authentic and unspoilt. You can spot the cone-shaped Trulli buildings typical of this region and see the pointed Cummersa buildings, which are found only in this town. Head out from the main square to wander around the labyrinth of whitewashed alleyways, where floral displays adorn balconies and doorways. You can see many historic gateways and ancient churches here and fantastic views of the whole valley from the terrace area. Locorotondo is a great place to find a little trattoria for dinner to eat like a local and shop in the artisan shops.

The property itself is both beautiful and functional - the kitchen was wonderful to cook in. The outdoor pizza oven was the best part for us - to make Neapolitan style pizzas in the wood burning oven was amazing! The views of the sea are wonderful as well. The house itself has great bathrooms and since we went in the winter time the heated floors make it very comfortable. Sergio is an amazing host - he was extremely responsive the entire time and in general wonderful to talk to. We would definitely stay here again!
