About this property

Narin 1 mile. This cosy detached cottage near Narin has been renovated to a high standard, to offer stylish and comfortable accommodation in one of Donegal’s most scenic regions. This lovely cottage has a well-equipped, fitted kitchen and dining area where you can rustle up delicious meals for your loved ones, and a welcoming sitting room complemented by a woodburning stove to warm any aching bones that you may have after a day of walking or cycling. Two comfortable bedrooms complete the accommodation so you can enjoy a good night's rest before the next day's adventures! To the rear, about five hundred meters from your cottage is the Kilclooney Dolmen, which lies on the owners’ land and dates back to around 4500 years. This historic burial monument is one of Ireland’s most well-known Dolmens, and guests can relish in the fact that they have a very important part of history on their doorstep. Just across the road from the cottage is the Dolmen Centre, where you can learn all about times gone by, and how our ancestors came to build these iconic structures that decorate our landscape today. Also opposite the Dolmen Centre is the Kilclooney Tavern, where food and drink are available. Just a short drive away is the seaside resort of Narin, home to a shop and pub, and the glorious Blue Flag beach where you can laze about making sandcastles with the children, take romantic strolls with your loved ones or simply enjoy an ice cream as you watch the tide drift in and out. The golf course is located next to the beach, and is one of Ireland’s most scenic courses, with the Atlantic Ocean as your backdrop. Just a few miles away is the charming heritage town of Ardara, home to a delightful selection of shops, pubs and craft shops not to mention bucket-loads of raw Donegal charm! A superb choice for your Donegal holiday.

Narin is a small village in Gweebarra Bay, on the west coast of County Donegal. There is great walking country here, with low hills and rolling bog land. Narin has a great sandy beach, ideal for watersports, bathing or just relaxing. Visit Ardara, Dungloe or Donegal Town, which are within driving distance.

Inside is bright clean and comfortable with views of countryside It’s not too far from two beautiful sandy beaches A lovely place to stay NB There was an issue with the gas cooker as only 2 rings worked but I’m sure this will be resolved

We'd booked via a 3rd party and the joining instructions got a little lost in translation i.e. we didn't know he expected us by 6 and arrived later. It was not a problem, he left a key and popped into see us the next day. The cottage is lovely, the beds comfy and the kitchen has all you need. It's not luxurious but much more than adequate. Worth knowing that there are no left over supplies in the kitchen e.g salt and pepper or the like which you sometimes find but you do get a welcome pack with scones, tea, coffee, bread, jam, sugar and milk. We didn't know and brought our own. The Dolmen at the back is interesting and the donkeys you have to pass friendly. We did get a few visitors walking past the property to visit the site but it wasn't a problem. The bar opposite is friendly enough and the Guiness fine. It says it does food but we didn't see any evidence. Maybe its just at weekends or at high season. We went in early June. The cottage is well sited in so much as you can get to some truly beautiful sites in a short drive. You do the need a car though. Portnoo and Narin are around the corner and really nice. They offer a couple of eating options but only the golf course was open when we were there, that was nice btw, the others were not open until Thursday. A little further afield you can see slieve league an absolute must but most of the coast and drives are brilliant.

The house was well equipped and lovely. It was also in a very convenient location next to a playground, The Dolmen center and a pub (The Tavern). We explored several beautiful beaches in the area in addition to many publicized attractions like Slieve League. The property manager provided several great options for attractions as well as food. The locals were also very helpful and friendly. We hope to return soon.
