This cottage on the coast features cosy and welcoming furnishings that create a traditional home from home feeling. With ground floor accommodation throughout, this Knightstown cottage has one double bedroom with an en-suite, as well as two single bedrooms, allowing for flexible sleeping arrangements. Outside this Knightstown cottage is a large lawned garden with views across the sea and to the Kerry mainland, so you can truly enjoy the unique tranquillity of this delightful part of Ireland. The pretty fishing village of Knightstown is just over a mile away and has recently seen a redevelopment of the marina. The village has a variety of shops, cafes and pubs and is the location of the car ferry that crosses the short distance between Valentia Island and the mainland. Activities nearby include boat trips to the Skellig Islands, diving and sea angling. You can take a wander along one of the many walks on the island and admire the stunning Fogher Sea Cliffs or view the abundance of wildlife that call this beautiful island home. A short drive will bring you to the famous Ring of Kerry and the towns of Cahersiveen and Waterville, or why not take a trip to one of the many unspoilt beaches in the area? With so much to see and do for people of all ages, you won't forget your trip to this Knightstown cottage.

Located on Valentia Island - which lies off the coast of the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry – Knightstown is a wonderful spot for a holiday. Easily accessible from the mainland by a ferry that runs from Reenard Point, or via the road bridge at Portmagee, Knightstown provides restaurants and pubs, as well as entertainment and local shops. It also offers a variety of sightseeing boat trips and fishing trips from its picturesque harbour. With around 650 residents, Valentia Island was the site of the first permanent communications link between Europe and the United States, and is famed for its magnificent 'Fogher' sea cliffs and its subtropical gardens at Glanleam House.

Kate was very friendly and helpful when we met her during the week. All the many facilities were clean and complete, many helpful cooking implements were available. The garden was delightful and restful and we had a wonderful time.

Firstly for such a lovely house, but for being such an accommodating, helpful and friendly person. Kate's Cottage is a lovely house with everything you need, it has a lovely garden where our boys could safely play. If the tide is out, you can walk 20 seconds to the end of the road and you're on a rocky beach. Great for skimming stones. For families with young kids, Kate has a silent electric shower in the ensuite, the only sound is water dropping, no electric shower noise. The main bathroom has a full size bathtub. On arrival was a litre of milk, tea bags, coffee and a few biscuits, which was a perfect surprise after a long drive. Valentia Island is stunning, if you like the Cliffs of Moher, they pale in comparison to Geokaun Mountain. Valentia Island Lighthouse is just brilliant. Both of these are within a 10 minute drive from Kate's Cottage. Knightstown is less than 2km from Kate's Cottage, there are summer schools for watersports like kayaking and swimming lessons just in the pier. There is a cafe/pizzeria overlooking the pier called The Watch House. Across the road is The Royal Valentia, it has a really good pub and restaurant. The car ferry to Cahersiveen is very handy, if you don't use it, it will take about 25 minutes to drive. The more tickets you buy for the ferry, the cheaper it works out, the tickets are valid for a few months. Kells Bay Garden is about 20 minutes away (if you take the ferry) Ballinskelligs is about a 20 minute drive. Once again, thanks for everything Kate.

This place is comfortable and the facilities are completely on a high standard. Most important is to mention, that Kate is an awesome host: We had several problems, where we needed support and Kate was incredibly helpful! Also Valentia Island is the perfect spot for family holiday, cause there is so much to do in the closer sorroundings and Knightstown is just lovely. We strongly hope, that we will get the chance to return someday!
