Once part of the magnificent Markree Estate, West Gate Lodge, a restored 19th century Gothic Revival Castle Gate House, offers unique holiday accommodation. Built in 1832 for the Lord of Markree Castle, West Gate Lodge, was designed to impress. Crafted from locally cut limestone, this stunning gate house offers views of the surrounding countryside from its spiral-staircased tower. The interiors are cosy and modern. With its master bedroom at ground level, coupled with an open plan kitchen/dining//living area and open fire, West gate Lodge is ideal for a romantic getaway or as bolthole to relax and unwind. The quaint village of Collooney is only a short distance away at the confluence of the Owenmore and Unshin Rivers.
The vibrant county town of Sligo is a few minutes drive by dual carriageway. Home to the famous poet, W B Yeats, Sligo, on the Wild Atlantic Way, offers many attractions to its visitors, from art galleries, surfing, boat trips on Lough Gill, seaweed baths, mountain and nature trails and much more. Collooney is a village with a rich history, situated in Co Sligo. Resting at the confluence of the Owenmore and Unshin rivers and forming a gateway to Sligo town, seven miles away. The town itself offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants with great seafood and pubs playing traditional Irish music. There are many attractions on your doorstep from horse-riding, golf, art galleries, seaweed baths or relax with a spot of fishing.

Note: A narrow stairwell with overhanging beams leads to mezzanine level, so care should be taken.
Note: The property adjoins Markree Castle Demesne, some of which is farmland.
Guests are asked to park off the access road to allow the farmer occasional access.
The farm gate to the rear of the property must be kept closed at all times.
