As we were staying in a proper villa we had access to the 'Residents' Club' all inclusive concept, which was phenomenal. The resort is not an all-inclusive resort, most of the people staying are on B&B or Half-Board, so the restaurants onsite are mainly al a carte restaurants and bars, having the Residents' Club package meant that you could order pretty much anything from any menu. So, for example we were able to sit on the terrace of the villa, ring room service to order fillet steak and a bottle or Veuve Clicquot for brunch, and it didn't cost a penny extra. We could have bathed in €100 a bottle Veuve Clicquot or Chateaux Rothschild Mouton Cadet if we wanted. The wine list available to residents' club members was extensive and excellent, including some very very good Greek wines. The food in all of the restaurants was excellent, we only ate in the buffet once and neither my wife or I particularly enjoyed that. This was nothing to do with the buffet food it's just that buffets are not our idea of an evening meal. All portions are very large, I don't think we managed to eat everything on our plates once. The food at Ocean was a step up, including the tastiest amuse bouche ever, seriously well done guys. I had steak tartare on the beach, amazing! The ribs at the poolside restaurant are spectacular, the burgers are wonderful and absolutely massive as was their Caesar salad. We loved Taverna, eating there most nights, the view is stunning and again the staff were excellent. The food was exemplary there too. After 10 nights we weren't at all bored with the choice available. In the Villa we were offered a choice of fragrance to be used in the air con, we chose jasmine which was lovely. We were given gifts by the room service guys every day, such as a presentation box of Macaroons, or Truffles or a little bottle of greek extra virgin olive oil in a wooden presentation case. Little surprise touches that made us feel really special. Each evening a lady called Anila came to turn down our beds, leave a note and a weather forecast and lavender on the beds. Our 2 year old son Leo, absolutely loved Anila as she was so kind and smiley. She gave him a little sesame biscuit each day which he devoured. He's still talking about Anila and our 'other holiday house' 3 weeks later. Thank you Anila! The staff were exemplary, their love of children made our holiday so much easier, Leo had a wonderful time which of course made our time equally wonderful. Particular mention goes to all of the staff in Ocean at breakfast, George and Panos from the pool bar and the ladies at the beach bar during evening service. They all looked extremely smart, in black with immaculate white tennis shoes on...very slick guys! Every time a wine bottle was opened, either in our villa by room service or in a restaurant it was done with great care and attention, it felt like every member of staff was a qualified Sommelier. Our villa was large, and very well equipped, we had a Nespresso machine including unlimited capsules, a harman kardon bluetooth speaker which was excellent, two fridges that were restocked every day with high quality drinks and snacks by the brilliant rooms service team, remote controlled black out curtains, various lighting moods, a heated pool, good sized terrace, direct access to the beach path and the largest and most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! We didn't hear the word "no" or "sorry I don't know" or "sorry you can't have that" once during our stay, every single request was catered for, including a litre of fresh milk delivered each day for Leo and even some fresh ginger root to make our own ginger tea (a cure for my over indulgence!) We read a lot about pools being cold, our villa pool was heated to 25C, which is bracing when you first get in after lying in the hot sun for a couple of hours but it's actually very refreshing. The same can be said about the main pool, which my two year old had absolutely no problem getting in and playing in for as long as he liked. In a hot country it's refreshing, which is the idea of a swimming pool....it's called a pool not a bath! We had no problems finding beds on the beach or around the pool and we spent most afternoons sunbathing in the haven of our villa. I think the value was spot on, it certainly wasn't cheap with the total cost including business class flights working out at over £1,000 per night but I didn't feel at all 'ripped off'. The quality and service absolutely met the price tag, which for me is praise indeed. If you fancy spoiling yourself, go for a proper villa with the residents' club package and I promise you won't be disappointed.
