About this property

In a peaceful location in the north of the beautiful island of Hvar, yet only a short distance to idyllic beaches and delightful towns, Villa Basina is a wonderful holiday home for family and friends to enjoy.

The villa comprises of three pretty houses built around an inviting swimming pool and the space you have surrounding you is magnificent. There are numerous stone terraces to discover, sweet benches to rest on and characterful tables for some fine al-fresco dining during your stay. The swimming pool is the perfect spot for cooling down in the hot summer sun whilst the kids play around on the lawn. It’s a quiet retreat yet you are never too far from delights that the island of Hvar has to offer.

Newly built and finished to a very high standard, there are five bedrooms and bathrooms across two of the houses and a cosy yet convivial open-plan living room with kitchen-diner, a great meeting place for friends and family to gather. The furnishings are comfortable, stylish and contemporary which are perfectly contrasted to the exposed brickwork and stone walls, adding so much character. There is a stunning summer kitchen with wood burning stove where you can create feasts using wonderful local ingredients. Air-conditioning and Wi-Fi are just two of the modern amenities on offer at these beautifully designed homes.

The island of Hvar is yours to discover, whether it is wine-tasting in local vineyards, kayaking at sun-set along the coast, cycling across the countryside or exploring the villages and towns on the island. The nearby pretty town of Vrboska (5km) has the nickname ‘Little Venice’ because of the sweet little bridges over the narrow fjord. A stroll from Vrboska through the pine forests brings you to a gorgeous beach popular with families and there are many secluded coves in the area. Also, be sure to visit Humac (18km), a sixteeth century village without electricity set upon a hilltop on the remote and beautiful south coast.

With such solitude and beautiful surroundings, it will be hard to leave Villa Basina yet Hvar offers such diverse and stunning landscapes, picturesque towns and villages and wonderful water based activities, helping you to create the perfect island adventure.

The Dalmatian island of Hvar has recently gained a reputation as one of Croatia’s trendiest destinations with Hvar Town (30km) becoming a celebrity hot-spot. Yet the interior of the island remains relatively unvisited despite its beautiful landscapes.

The picturesque little town of Vrboska (5km) is just a short drive away. It has many pretty bridges over the narrow fjord, giving it the nickname ‘Little Venice’, and some pretty historical features in the village itself as well as a Fisherman’s museum. Just a short walk through the pine forests brings you to the delightful beach of Soline, very popular with families on the island.  From here you can even walk past secluded coves and some naturist beaches towards Jelsa.

In the town of Jelsa (9km) you can enjoy fresh fish and local wine in a decent choice of tavernas and restaurants. It is a great base for exploring this part of the island. You can walk or cycle through the dense pine forests, discover pretty beaches and coves or take boat excursions a little further afield. There are numerous walking tours that start from Jelsa and various trekking paths across the island.

The island of Hvar is yours to discover, whether it is wine-tasting in local vineyards, kayaking at sun-set along the coast, cycling across the countryside or exploring the villages and towns on the island. Stari-Grad (10km), one of the main ports for arrivals from Split, was founded by the Greeks in 400 BC and is the oldest settlement on the island. Nearby you will find Stari Grad Plain, a cultural landscape dating back from the Greeks in the 4th century BC, now a unesco heritage site.  Also, be sure to visit Humac (18km), a sixteeth century village without electricity set upon a hilltop on the remote and beautiful south coast.

With watersport centres in Hvar Town (30km) and Zavala (20km) plus summer windsurfing in Stari-Grad, there are plenty of water based for all.

Large and quiet property. The house was well equipped and very well maintained, whoch was not to be expected after arriving on a rocky path. There were ten of us and we felt very comfortable. Highly recommend!
