About this property

An attractive stone cottage in the village of Meifod, with off-road parking and a lovely long garden.

Elm House, in the pretty, traditional Mid Wales village of Meifod has been lovingly kept and renovated by the same family for over 100 years. Located on the main street, the local shop is within easy reach and the market town of Welshpool is only 10 miles to the south with Oswestry 15 miles to the north, both providing a good range of supermarkets, independent shops and a choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants.

Being in the same family for generations, many of the statement furniture pieces in Elm House are antiques. The front door opens onto the living room with a three seater and a two seater sofa facing the woodburner in the brick fireplace and the flat screen TV, DVD, video players. WiFi is available along with a CD player, radio and plenty of books. The dining room with a table seating 6 comfortably has another fireplace (although not in use) along with a couple of easy chairs. Keeping with the feel of the cottage the modern fitted kitchen, with access from the driveway, has been designed to make the most of the space with a fantastic electric range cooker, Belfast sink, dishwasher and polished wood worktops. In the handy utility room you will find the fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer, as well as a further sink. With a ground floor kingsize bedroom and a ground floor bath/shower room with WC and basin providing accommodation for those with limited mobility. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with original built-in wall cupboards and an impressive wardrobe, a twin bedroom and a shower room with WC and basin. Outside there is driveway parking for two cars and a lovely long, enclosed rear garden with a patio area, table and chairs, charcoal barbecue and two lawned areas separated by flower beds and paths.

Meifod sits in the rural heartland of Mid Wales and there is great walking and nature spotting in the area. There are lots of opportunities for enjoying the landscape and outdoor activities with both the renowned Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall and the southern edge of the Snowdonia National Park within a 35 minute drive.

Actually it's one of the best cottages we've stayed in. Well equipped and nice and warm - the log burner being an added bonus.

We had such a fabulous time staying at this house in Meifod. We stayed over Easter weekend, the hosts kindly had some milk, eggs, butter and bread ready in the house when we arrived which was a thoughtful touch. They also had newspaper in the fireplace with kindling - ready to go! And plenty of wood. We had everything we needed at this house and it was in a great spot in the countryside - the gateway to Snowdonia. Couldn't recommend it more!
