About this property

Whitland 2.7 miles. This unique Grade II listed holiday cottage, set in a rural position near the market town of Whitland and the attractive town of Narberth, beautifully combines original character features with modern facilities. As soon as you spot the pretty front garden and the unusual red corrugated roof of this detached cottage, you will be eager to step inside to see more. At the front you will find the original cottage with a welcoming sitting room with open beams and a wonderful inglenook fireplace housing a warming woodburner, the ideal place to relax and watch some TV. A separate snug has conservatory-style seats and is perfect for finding some quiet time to get lost in a good book. The kitchen with dining area forms part of the superb extension, which brings the garden inside with the large, wrap-around floor-to-ceiling windows, and is probably the best place to watch the wild birds and other wildlife that often visit this lovely garden. A comfy ground floor twin bedroom, with its original feature fireplace and a ground floor wet room make this charming cottage more accessible for less mobile guests. The double bedroom on the first floor features open beams with a modern bathroom completing the upper floor. Children will love the spacious garden, which includes a large lawn and orchard to the side. An open bubbling stream borders the garden. Surrounded by fields, you can experience true rural living from this charming country cottage and can venture further into the wide open spaces along the footpaths, which trail almost from the doorstep. A short drive takes you to the little market town of Whitland, whilst to the east lies pretty Narberth, where you’ll be charmed by its traditional Welsh shops and independent boutiques brimming with local art, crafts, fine food and antiques, meaning you’re sure to pick up the perfect keepsake of your stay. Enjoy a meal or a cream tea or an evening in the Queens Hall, which offers various shows throughout the year. The scenic coastline beckons for wonderful walks, a day beside the sea on a superb choice of sandy beaches, along with wonderful watersports and boat trips. There are plenty of days out to be enjoyed by all, before returning to this charming holiday cottage - the perfect place to relax and plan tomorrow’s day out.

Whitland is a small market town lying on the River Tâf, 15 miles from Carmarthen. The small centre has an array of little shops, pubs, eating places and the Hywel Dda Gardens and Interpretive Centre, with 6 delightful gardens to explore. A trip to Carmarthen offers more shops, restaurants, tea rooms, a cinema and the pretty steam railway ride or a visit to the mysterious Merlin's Centre.

The garden was ideal for the dog. The facilities were good and the kitchen dining area is a lovely open plan area. The cottage was a bit cold when we arrived but soon heated up with the central heating. One small suggestion is to have more comfortable seating in the small room. It is a good base to explore Pembrokeshire.

The double bed upstairs is extremely uncomfortable..so hard it was painful, spent the night tossing and turning. 2 back door and bathroom handles were stiff to use...lined curtains in the windows needed, head height for male use of toilet upstairs limited. Outside light didn't work...skirting boards need painting ...no tools in the fireplace...everything heard between the bedrooms...front porch was damp, with plants growing ...windows dirty.
