Rye is an ancient town Perched on a hill, overlooking the River Rother and Romney Marsh. It has enchanting cobbled streets, a medieval church and beautifully preserved historic houses from medieval, Tudor and Georgian times, giving the town a uniquely unhurried atmosphere. In early September, the town assumes a different atmosphere, as the Rye Arts Festival takes place.
