Pet Friendly Holiday Cottages

If you hold your pet close to your heart then leaving it behind to go on holiday can be an emotional strain, not to mention the hassle and expense of finding a dog-sitter or kennels. When you choose pet friendly holiday cottages you don’t have to worry about any of that, and your four-legged and two-legged family members can enjoy a really special holiday together.

You’ll find lots of pet friendly cottages to choose from, from spacious properties, barn conversions, and farmhouses, to smaller accommodation in remote spots, and near to some great hiking and cycling trails. Pet friendly cottages are more common than you might think and are often the only option if you just can’t bear to leave your dog behind.

Things to do on your pet friendly cottage holiday

Having your dog along for the ride doesn’t have to put limits on your experience. Actually, your dog can make the adventure even more special, as they explore new places, lead you along unspoiled hiking trails, and fill every moment full of love, enthusiasm, and muddy feet!

All along the UK, there are some great spots for pet friendly holidays, not to mention some amazing pet friendly holiday cottages. Head up to Scotland and your dog will be in heaven as they explore the rugged heathland or mountain trails, an exciting mixture of terrain and a big change for dogs that are more used to the patchy grass of the local park!

Head to the South Coast and there are lots of excellent beaches, such as Weymouth or Newquay, just be aware that at certain times of the year access for dogs is restricted. For dogs that have never seen the sea, let alone taken a paddle, a pet friendly cottage holiday by the seaside can be really magical, especially for them!

More pet owners are realising the advantages of pet friendly cottage holidays - the ease and convenience of your own personal space combined with the character and charm or these beautiful buildings – you’d be barking mad not to book!

About The United Kingdom

"Not our cup of tea. It felt as though the cottage was owned by an elderly couple prior to being let out. The kitchen utensils were very dated and baking trays very rusty. We did not realise that the farm and cattery were right next door to the cottage and the noise of the animals was a distraction. There were people walking past the kitchen window every morning so there was a lack of privacy. We took our dogs with us and found we could not walk them on neighbouring roads as there were no pavements so our walks were not relaxed. The cottage is too remote for us as we have a dog who is car sick and therefore need to be close to shops, pubs etc. A major downside for us was the lack of quality Wi-Fi. Most of the time we were unable to get a signal for our laptop and mobile phones. We were having building work done at home which was the only reason for renting the cottage. It was therefore important that we had access to our phones in case of any problems."

"S14301 is great for 2 adults and 2 children. 4 adults is not really accommodated for. In the lounge is one sofa and 2 uncomfortable chairs. We took turns as to who sat on the sofa!In fact, I'd say that the furniture is tired and in need of replacement. The kitchen is well equipped, though we bought a non stick frying pan to use as the one provided was awful. We had 2 cars which meant we struggled with parking. The one designated parking space was fine, but we had to park the other car several roads away at times.Having said all this-we had a great week! Our son and daughter-in-law took the least comfortable bed and let us have the sofa more often! We used one car as often as we could so we could leave the other car in the space we found. The dogs had great walks and we enjoyed the beautiful countryside."

"The cottage was lovely and on the whole suited our needs. We were in the second bedroom which was a bit small and the style of bed with uprights on the base corners caused problems because the lack of space meant we knocked our legs....often! Getting the stool from under the dressing table was a problem and you can't sit in front of the dressing table because the bed's in the way and there's no socket there anyway for hairdryer or other electrical hair implements. Our friends missed Wi-Fi....there's none there. It could be that reception's not good but if so, perhaps that should be stated in the cottage details. Having said all of this, the cottage was otherwise very comfortable and we'd happily stay there again....but we'd bag the bigger bedroom next time!"

"When we arrived the property appeared to have not been cleaned. The floors were dirty, the bedroom bins had not been emptied, one had cotton buds and a large amount of human hair in it. There was rubbish left on the bedside table in one of the bedrooms. The fridge and sink weren't clean either. The laminate floors in the kitchen are a bit of a state as they have been mopped with water and laminate floors and water don't mix. The house information gave details of the welcome pack that should be at the property, however most of these items were missing (there was no biscuits, milk etc). The welcome tray had biscuit crumbs in it but alas no biscuits."

"S14301 is very well equipped and is kept in very good order, we particularly liked the courtyard garden and the cleanliness of the house. Our only issue was that the mattresses' did not appear to be of good quality which meant that the bed in the main room was too uncomfortable to sleep in. However, as there were only two of is staying this was not too much of an issue as we just slept in the other room. The welcome pack of tea and coffee was nice, it does say in the welcome email that there would be milk supplied and this was not the case. However these were only minor issue and on the whole we had a lovely stay in a very nice property."
