Staying in London

London is a vast city and certainly has something for everyone no matter where your interests lie. There are wonderful museums from the famous Natural History Museum to more obscure ones such as the Fan Museum in Greenwich. There are numerous art galleries and countless theatres where you can see all manner of performances. If you prefer history there are many iconic landmarks to visit such as St Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben and the Tower of London. If shopping is more your thing then you’ll surely be spoilt for choice. Oxford and Regents Street are well renowned for their shopping opportunities but there are countless other places to visit including Covent Garden, Spitalfields Market or King’s Road. No matter what brings you here it’s a great destination for a last minute holiday.

"My husband and I were looking for a cottage close to London for our recent vacation. We chose the Coach House in Sevenoaks. This allowed us to easily take the train into London, but also visit local sights; taking in the country charm. Sevenoaks is a wonderful town and has anything you could want; great restaurants, shops, even a natural chemist. The Coach House is a sweet cottage, nestled on a small country road, with a scenic pond and a finely manicured lawn. Flowers were abundant. The owner, Ann, makes sure her guests are happy and has a delicious welcome hamper (basket) ready for your arrival. This is so helpful when weary travelers are hungry and is handy for breakfasts. Its open and airy, was recently redone and has everything you need. I appreciated the fresh crisp bed linens, fluffy oversized towels, and high end soaps and toiletries. It just so happened that our rental car had broken down on the next day after arrival, and we did not bring a cell phone with us (from the US). Ann was right there to help us and went out of her way to make sure that AA Auto Club came out to service our car. She went above and beyond for us, knowing that we wanted to begin our journey. I don’t know how we would have gotten help without her assistance, and we are forever grateful for her! The bedrooms are cozy and quiet, just as you would hope for. The kitchen is fully appointed, and there’s a great flat screen TV for your evening wind down. Just a few steps away, down the street, there’s a lovely walking path, were you will see abundant and fragrant lavender in bloom (in the summer months), with miles and miles of breathtaking views! How perfectly scenic! We loved our visit at the Coach House, and are planning on going back next May, if not before! Ann is the nicest, sweetest, and most caring and helpful Innkeeper we have ever met! Thank you so much for everything!! We miss Ann and The Coach House already!!"

"The location of this property is why I would recommend it. A two minute walk to the train station & then a very short 15/20 minute journey into central London, makes this a great place to stay on the outskirts, if you want to spend your days sightseeing in London. Winchmore Hill itself has some great dining pubs & restaurants. The cottage itself, although very quaint, isn't very practical as a space to come back to relax in, which is the downside. It feels very formal & is over packed with unnecessary old furniture and knick knacks. It feels more like staying in a B&B or an older Aunts house. The stairs are extremely steep & the kitchen is on the first floor with the bedrooms which makes it difficult to cook anything & then bring it downstairs to eat. There is no DVD player & not enough comfortable sofa's to relax on an evening. The bedrooms don't have proper wardrobes so be prepared to literally live out of your case. Clean & tidy, but not practical for a family."

"This Alice in Wonderland cottage is very well equipped to a high spec and in a stunning location with lovely walks from the doorstep. The hamper was a special treat. So many beautifully presented home-made goodies. It was a refreshing change and reminded us of the good old days of RR hampers before they became the rather cursory offerings found in many RR properties. Whilst it would clearly be difficult to fit it in and was entirely obvious from the property details that there wasn't one, a washer/dryer (or access to one) would be so useful, especially because of the outdoorsy nature of the activities available. The lack of such facilities means we (and we suspect others), would be reluctant to book the property for more than 2 or 3 days, which is a shame as we would love to stay for longer."
