What our customers say about their holidays

    • Barbara - Verified booking

The property is in a fabulous location and was just what we look for in a home away from home.

It has been designed for holiday makers and their dogs, with easily clean floors and secure area where the dogs can securely go outside without the worry that they will go somewhere they shouldn't. We loved being able to walk through the woods to a pub and access to shops was also good. We loved the area and all the well looked after foot paths, another "must" for us going on holiday. My thanks to the owners for quickly sorting out the confusion when we arrived late in the evening to find someone else had mistakenly settled into the cottage for the night which was very quickly and amicably resolved. On the down side, one of the doors into the kitchen doesn't have a handle on one side, which if the door closes, you can be locked out of the cottage. This did happen to us, however we had left another external door open so where able to get in, but we were very early on aware that this could happen so were mindful of trying to ensure we never closed it. The kitchen could benefit by having more things in it, glasses, in particular, and I bought a tin-opener as the one there didn't work. The fridge in the kitchen I don't think works properly, so used the one in the utility room and some of the hot plates aren't that great. Despite these, which we viewed as niggles, the beds were super comfy and the heating was fabulous. Stepping in and out of the shower in the bath can be a bit difficult for those who have balance issues. We loved the cottage and thank the owners for enabling us to have a wonderful stay.

I had a wonderful 28-day stay in this beautifully set and thoughtfully designed property. It had absolutely everything you could need for a comfortable, relaxing break. One of my favourite daily rituals was watching the sunrise at 6.30am, coffee in hand, as the frosty morning mist lifted to the sound of birdsong – pretty special (see video). It was incredibly peaceful – the perfect place to focus and get work done, and relax after a stressful period. The shower pressure was brilliant, the bed super comfortable, and the whole place was spotless. I loved lighting the stove burner while cooking a Sunday roast, listening to a favourite podcast as pheasants and rabbits foraged on the front lawn. The blossom tree in the cottage garden was just coming into full bloom while I was there which was an unexpected joy.Jessica and Peter were fantastic hosts, and Lucy the cleaner did a great job each week – the fresh flowers she left were a thoughtful, welcoming detail. There are stunning walks from the doorstep, and Sudbury is only a short drive away. I genuinely can’t think of a single negative… other than wishing I could have stayed longer!A big thank you for making my stay so seamless and comfortable.

The bedrooms, bedding and towels were excellent.

Lots of toothpaste and toothbrushes However the kitchen is poorly equipped. We had to buy spoons, frying pan roasting trays and wine glasses. The saucepans available have been scratched and rusting. The washing machine has been left fully loaded with wet linen and towels. The insides of the cupboards was dirty covered with stains and crumbs. We had no cutlery on the first night of our arrival and no instructions have been left about the hidden draw compartment. When we telephoned the agency on Sunday night, there was no reply. We had telephoned back on Monday morning and once we have stated the issues, Kevin promised us he would contact the local team and update us. That did not happen at all. Just by the pure luck, one of the workers on the camp side told us about the hidden cutlery drawer but alas - still no spoons. No washing up liquid and no basics. We had to buy tea towels , sponges, ect. The The property is lacking in basic kitchen utensils. Never book this property. Our stay has been spoiled by the lack of care and some genuine hospitality.

Hide and Sleep is a welcoming, home from home property, perfect for large families.

There were 9 of us in 3 groups. It is well equipped, although as our stay was over Christmas we had taken extra serving bowls and kitchen equipment, not all of it was needed. The wet room in the annexe is a fabulous addition, but we didn't use it in Winter because the room was chilly, and the shower did not stay hot for long. Laminate flooring through out the downstairs made it easy to move furniture about for the house to function as we needed it to, and easy to keep clean. The large bedrooms were clean and comfortable. For our party twin beds in another room would have been better as the children would have had to share a bed. We provided our own air bed which there was plenty of room for. Providing hanging rails was good. No bulky furniture. There were enough decorations in the house to make it feel festive. A walk to the beach for the adults and our dog was not too far. The children enjoyed their time at the beach and the park, which were a short drive away

The kitchen was far too small to cater for 8 people.

It also lacked in the basic essentials which included bottle/tin opener, sharp knives, dessert spoons, glasses (for wine & cold drinks), baking trays, & serving plates. There were no place mats anywhere throughout the house suitable for hot food or drinks. The shower didn't work properly and the front door handle had rusted & was falling off. My grandson got locked in the toilet as the lock was faulty. There was no recycling. The beds and mattresses were comfortable and clean as was the rest of the house... Overall disappointing as I spent my Christmas eve rushing to the shops to buy the basic essentials that should have been provided in the house, & on Christmas day i was driving around Jaywick looking for sharp knife to buy so we could cut the meat!! The penknife I keep in my car for camping came in very handy...
