What our customers say about their holidays

    • Moira Schmidt - Verified booking

This was by far the best place we stayed at during our trip.

Our hosts were delightful, considerate and welcoming. The property actually exceeded our expectations as did the village itself. Lucy greeted us sympathetically with freshly baked flapjacks (clearly her specialty) which was so very much appreciated after an unexpectedly long trip from London. We loved the donkeys braying, and the horses passing on their way into the village from the front door. We were drawn into Ring of Bells with their great food, beer, scrumpy and easy conversation. The people of the village are welcoming and patient even when explaining the intricacies of cricket which was a delight to watch behind the church (also worth a stop) on the pitch. We enjoyed many walks in the area, touring Bath, and seeing stone circles. It is an enchanting place.\ We pretty much loved everything, however it was the peace that descended onto the village which seemed to permeate through to our bones. \ The property is very comfortable and very well cared for. An absolutely outstanding property.\ Moira Schmidt, June 2016\

We had a really great stay at Cider Press Cottage.

Welcomed with a friendly smile and delicious lemon drizzle cake, we found the accommodation a wonderful and comfortable retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. We particularly enjoyed the wood burning stove and the grounds. My son loved playing in the stream and feeding the donkeys. Simon and his wife have a beautiful home! Feel free to publish this feedback. Below is a note to the owner. One note to the owner who may not be aware. There seems to be a slight woodlouse issue (could be the time of year?). During the night, there were hundreds on the wooden table outside and the external walls and door. Some made their way inside the house. Not a massive issue for us but they might freak some people out to think about the possibility of one crawling over them at night. We did find a couple on the bed!

Lovely, cosy cottage in a peaceful village location and yet just a 10-15 minute drive from Bath.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a lemon drizzle cake waiting for us on our arrival (delicious!) and the cottage itself was very well presented and clean. The weather was rubbish for us (didn't stop us going out on long walks) but snuggling up in the evening with a lump of lemon drizzle and the wood burner going was a very pleasant way to dry off. Very friendly and considerate owners who, on introduction, offered some valuable advice about the area for us and our 2 kids. The Ring O' Bells pub is well worth a visit for a meal, friendly staff and good food. The cottage is roughly a 40 minute drive from Longleat which was a great day out for us and the kids. I would certainly recommend this cottage and we hope to visit again next year!

We had an excellent relaxing week at Cider Press Cottage.

A badly needed holiday for us and it was so peaceful. The owners added extra touches, such as flowers in each room, milk in the fridge and a wonderful home baked cake! Also lots of logs and kindling for the wood burner. There were some very interesting books - we wished we could have stayed longer and read more! The cottage was ideal for exploring the area, good walks and within easy reach of Bath, Wells, Frome and others. Plus the owners were very friendly and helpful. The pub in the village, within walking distance had excellent quality meals and were inexpensive. We would highly recommend this very comfortable cottage for your holidays.

      It was all REALLY lovely.

.... but if I were to be super critical, I’d say a mirror downstairs would reflect some light into the lounge and be of use as a final self check before you go out the front door. GENERAL FEEDBACK TO SYKES - Perhaps you would explain why one can’t get into the properties until 4pm because of thorough cleaning needed to be done by the proprietor (re: Covid), when guests still have to leave at 10am, now having to remove bedding and thoroughly clean (re: Covid). Prices have gone up, one gets less time at the property and the customer is doing the work! When I stay in an hotel I don’t have to take off my bedding when I leave!
