    Holiday Cottages in Ceredigion

Once a minor kingdom, known historically as Cardiganshire, today Ceredigion includes several towns both inland and along the Cardigan Bay coast. The 60-mile stretch of Cardigan Bay coast sits along the Welsh Coastal Path, perfect to explore by foot. Dolphins are often spotted off Ceredigion’s beaches and if you want to get a closer look, there are many boat tour companies to choose from.

Further inland, take a short break in one of Ceredigion’s market towns, visit a woodland village or explore one of the few remote wilderness areas still in existence in the UK – the Cambrian Mountains. The primary settlements in Ceredigion lie around the edges of its wild moorland plateau with varied landscapes — spanning lakes, dense forests, wildlife havens and archaeological areas of interest.

Ceredigion holiday cottages have something for everyone, so no matter what you’re looking for, you’ll find it here. Choose between woodland getaways, traditional seaside breaks or an active sporting holiday. With thousands of homes listed on Snaptrip throughout the UK, all backed by our best price guarantee, you're sure to find your next break. Need some help? What our customers say about their holidays

    • Chelsey - Verified booking

We recently decided to stay at The Stable in place of our usual cottage in Wales, as we wanted something new.

The listing has all old pictures, so each room is different to the pictures but we didn't mind this at all. However, it was listed as having a working shower and other amenities. On the first day, we couldn't get the oven to turn on. We had access to the hob, but couldn't find a switch to enable to actual oven. After a long day of driving we just wanted to have a relaxed evening, but unfortunately it took over half an hour for anyone to get back to us. We understood they were busy, but that was the first of the problems. (The oven switch is on the back wall of the bottom left cupboard, behind the pans.) The next day, we couldn't get the radiators working and the cottage was very cold. On asking Karen and Rebecca about it, Rebecca did come round to help. She stated that she knew the cottage gets cold, and it took her a long time to work the heating system herself, but there was no information left for us on how to access the heating. That same day, the shower wouldn't switch on. After ten minutes of fiddling, it came back on long enough for me to wash but not any longer. Because of this, the other three went without a shower. The next day, it still wouldn't turn on so we popped another message to Rebecca. She said she'd come over when she was back next door, and that was fine. She came, fiddled with it herself and left. Unfortunately, it went off completely again just as she left. She came back and phoned the plumber, who talked her through what he thought would work and she got it running. The moment she left again, it went off again. She came back round and told us the plumber would be round later that evening. On coming round, both the plumber and Rebecca tried to get the shower working, but he then came in the front room and said "Don't hate me. But I can't fix it. I need to get onto the roof eventually, but it means you can't have the pressure on at all." Without pressure, the shower was nothing but a small drip. This then went on for the rest of the week - the shower unusable and the water persistently going cold (both in the bathroom and kitchen.) On leaving The Stable and having a day to reflect, we texted Rebecca and Karen about our disappointment and how The Stable fell short. It was listed as having a working shower and this just wasn't the case. We also said that, having reflected, we feel it was justified to ask for a partial refund on our stay. We had no response, so later that day I emailed Sykes Cottages about our stay. Rebecca did get back to us the next day to offer £72, which I thought was an insult considering the problems we had throughout the whole week. On discussing this with Sykes Cottages, it became clear they would not be willing to help, and in fact we were spoken to by one member of staff like dirt on her shoe. She was not willing to hear us out, and may as well have accused us of lying about the shower which just was not the case. She also stated "well, no one else has made a complaint about The Stable before" which would have been fine except we were the first guests! That comment in itself showed us that Sykes Cottages would not listen or assist us in any way. They were entirely uninterested and made it clear they would not be pursuing our complaint and that we either accept £72 or nothing at all. I would not visit The Stable in the future, and I would suggest it is avoided by anyone else who doesn't want a disappointing holiday. We will never use Sykes Cottages again and would suggest others avoid at all costs!

The major disappointment for us was that the property has only 5 bedrooms, not 6 as the ad says.

The “single room” is actually a single bed in a corner of the games room - you couldn’t possibly have someone sleeping there and also use the table tennis or pool tables or the piano at the same time. We had planned the single room to be for a young child who’d be asleep while the adults played table tennis and pool. Once you take that into account, it’s a very adequate house. The kitchen was well equipped apart from having only a small cafetiere and not enough mugs and glasses for a lot of people (even with those we asked for and were given), and it could do with more teaspoons (think yogurt for pudding or breakfast) and small sharp knives. The public rooms were spacious and attractive, with grapes growing over your head in the downstairs sitting room, and a great view from the upstairs one. There was enough comfortable seating in each. The bedrooms could have done with better blackout blinds for children sleeping there (some windows have them while others in the same room don’t). The hot tub always seemed to work for us even though the spanner symbol was there (others have complained about this). The barbecue is big and there are decent BBQ tools. Care is needed not to lose food through the grating. The wifi worked only sporadically. We found the owner helpful and responsive. This sounds like a lot of complaints but, apart from the number of bedrooms, they’re really just niggles. The accommodation was good for us (10 adults and 2 small children) and we had a great time there. The games room was great, though if you have your own cue / bats you may prefer them to some that are there. The house has a huge variety of board games and jigsaws so no need to bring those apart from your must-have favourites.

From the minute we arrived at Dolly we were enchanted.

The weather was not good all week however we were there to relax. Dolly had everything required to acheive this. The woodburner made the van warm and cosy and the inital supply of logs was most welcome we had also brought our own. Books and games are supplied too. The kitchen is well equipped and on arrival it was a nice surprise to find a complementary fine selection of local goodies and treats for our bedlington terrier Barney. The bed was so comfortable and the linen sheets and duvet cover were delightful. The bathroom is in a seperate building a few steps outside but dont let that put you off, it was warm, clean, and modern . On days when it is dry there is a private sitting out area and a ring to tether hounds to as this is a farming area. The owners were welcoming and responsive. Dolly is set down a quite county lane with ample parking available. A half mile walk along the main road will find you at a local pub which brews beer and makes excellent pizza. Just a 3 mile stride to the coast gives you another pleasant walk, again with a pub to supply refreshments. On the one dry day we went to New Quay, a short drive away and we were rewarded with the sight of dolphins playing just off the harbour, which was a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this accommodation for comfort, location and the effort the owners put in to make guests feel relaxed and welcome. Helen , Alwyn and Barney Bedlington

This quirky old holiday property is exactly what we were expecting.

The negative reviews did Initially concern us before we arrived, however we weren’t disappointed once we arrived. There was lots and lots of room seating areas on different levels. The children had an abundance of boardgames on the upper level and a games room With pool table and table tennis table downstairs which they made full use of. The hot tub was never out of use with the five grandchildren and many hours of laughter. The hot tub was spotless, but over the week it did accumulate debris from the overhanging shrubs / leaves above the boundary fence naturally falling down. It was a lovely fully enclosed garden, which yes, could’ve done with a bit of tidy but due to bird nesting season, you have to be very careful what you’re cutting back at this time of year. The kitchen area was very bright with ample pots and pans for the larger parties. But we’re really comfortable and there’s lots of clean towels, but we did bring our own for the hot tub. We had three cars, there was ample parking and Jamie and his Team are really friendly and on hand if we needed help. The beaches are quite nearby and nuchal. It’s literally 20 minutes away excellent fish and chips. Thank you, Jamie and the team x

      Absolutely amazing!

It's exactly how it is seen on photos and description... Only better!! Stayed here for 3 nights for my birthday and honestly couldn't of asked for anything better! Perfect place to escape the hustle of everyday life, so peaceful and private!Cabin was so cozy and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in! There wasn't anything that hadn't been thought of to ensure the perfect stay and the air con was an absolute bonus! Hot tub was amazing, free to use as much we liked, owners came each morning (without disturbing us) and checked on chemical levels etc to ensure we got full use of it! On our first morning our hot water wasn't working (had been the night before) we phoned Byron and he came round straight away; they only live up the road! He had replaced the gas bottle that morning on his check up and sometimes it just needs a little encouragement, he sorted it right away for us and ensured we had everything we needed! Honestly couldnt of asked to of stayed in a better place or with better hosts! Would definitely recommend and hopefully we will be visiting again soon!
