    Dunwich Holiday Cottages

Dunwich, nestled on the Suffolk coast, is a charming and quiet rural village. One of the biggest draws of this town is the ruins of the medieval port and priory, much of which has been lost to the sea. Dunwich Heath holds all you could want for walking and cycling, and you'll find plenty of wildlife at the nearby RSPB Minsmere. After a long day, enjoy the fresh seasonal menu at The Ship Inn or have a drink overlooking the sea at The 12 Lost Churches.

We hand-pick our Dunwich holiday cottages for their charm and character. You'll find spacious barn conversions and farmhouses with relaxed open-plan living areas for large groups. If you want something more intimate, try our range of romantic cabins and cottages with open fireplaces and hot tubs. We also have dog-friendly cottages with easy access to all the best walking routes.

At Snaptrip, we offer thousands of UK holiday cottages, all backed by our best price guarantee. Use our search filters to find your ideal holiday cottage in Dunwich and rest assured that our friendly customer service team are always on hand to help.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mr Joseph - Verified booking

A stunning property in a beautiful location. Tastefully and sympathetically modernised inside with ample space and open-plan living. A good-sized space for a large car on the driveway but with parking on road if needed. Good-sized bedrooms (one en suite) upstairs. Kitchen well-equipped with modern appliances. Huge dining table and ample seating plus a large living room with comfy sofas. Fabulous views to rear over Dunwich Marsh, a nature reserve. Large patio area with table and chairs and shared grass lawn to edge of marsh. We spent most of our time on the patio (lovely weather!) and took advantage of the wildlife in the garden and across the marsh. Great views of Marsh Harrier, resident Kestrel and Buzzard plus regular visits to the garden by a Greater Spotted Woodpecker. Barn Owls seen every evening at dusk hunting across the marsh. Wifi good, can't comment on TV reception, didn't use it once, too much going on outside! Dunwich is a very special place with a long and interesting history. The museum is brilliant and worth a visit as are the Ship Inn and Flora Tea Rooms on the beach. Loads of walking from the front door of the house! We barely used the car the whole week. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely stay here in this very clean little cottage in Dunwich. The decor throughout has been very thoughtfully selected. The stairs are a little tricky/wonky for any mobility issues particularly with the only toilet upstairs. We found the storage heaters difficult to use as they gave out very little heat. You can buy good firewood at the farm shop & cafe a couple of miles away. The welcome tray of home laid eggs was much appreciated. The little garden/courtyard is well designed and a delight to use in good weather from the kitchen patio doors. The location is great with several walks from the property and the fabulous birdwatching area, Minsmere, just around the corner. There are many places to visit nearby including walks at Thorpeness and Orford & of course Southwold, Walberswick & Aldeburgh.

Very comfortable cottage, but needing a bit more care on basic items.

Exterior light does not work, due to broken switch in hall. Lighting in sitting room poor. Light bulbs either side of tv too glaring and bright. Need to be replaced with soft white bulbs. Lights above sofa stuck on dim as dimmer switch does not work. Kitchen very well equipped, but a colander and a pair of kitchen scissors would help. Lovely comfortable sofa and gorgeous bed. Slept so well. Thank you. Best vacuum cleaner we have ever encountered in a holiday let. We appreciate that it's early in the season, but when we sat outside, the impression was of a lack of attention to the exterior area. Not a pleasant place to sit. It just looked unkempt. All this sounds very critical, but it's a lovely cottage, and could be so much better if more attention was paid to the little things.

Lovely cottage, but not quite right for us.

Ample parking is a bonus in Dunwich, and the cottage, although small, is comfortable and well equipped. Location couldn't be better. We had 2 major issues, which may not be a problem for other renters. The listing details do not make it clear that the small bedroom is accessed through the large one, and that all the facilities for storing clothes are in the small bedroom: in effect this is a one bedroom cottage. It is challenging for people with mobility difficulties, as the stiff gate and 2 steps from the parking area to the garden are difficult to negotiate, and the shower is impossible for less mobile people to use. I would happily return to the cottage again by myself or with a partner, but it was not an easy stay for my friend, who has mobility difficulties.

We booked the cottage after viewing the photos and reading the reviews.

There were two of us plus our spaniel. The cottage was very clean and comfortable (the super king size bed especially). The owner had left us some hot cross buns, cake, milk and a bottle of fizz which was very generous. However, the photos and description indicate that we had access to the rear garden, but there were ‘Private’ signs on the main and side gate which prevented access. Fortunately there is an enclosed garden at the front of the property so the dog did have somewhere. Dogs are not allowed on the sofa or in the bedrooms which is not mentioned in the description. The location is perfect with a dog friendly beach (and cafe) a 10min walk, and a pub 5mins away. A great base for exploring the Suffolk coast.
