    Dunwich Holiday Cottages

Dunwich, nestled on the Suffolk coast, is a charming and quiet rural village. One of the biggest draws of this town is the ruins of the medieval port and priory, much of which has been lost to the sea. Dunwich Heath holds all you could want for walking and cycling, and you'll find plenty of wildlife at the nearby RSPB Minsmere. After a long day, enjoy the fresh seasonal menu at The Ship Inn or have a drink overlooking the sea at The 12 Lost Churches.

We hand-pick our Dunwich holiday cottages for their charm and character. You'll find spacious barn conversions and farmhouses with relaxed open-plan living areas for large groups. If you want something more intimate, try our range of romantic cabins and cottages with open fireplaces and hot tubs. We also have dog-friendly cottages with easy access to all the best walking routes.

At Snaptrip, we offer thousands of UK holiday cottages, all backed by our best price guarantee. Use our search filters to find your ideal holiday cottage in Dunwich and rest assured that our friendly customer service team are always on hand to help.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Carol Thornhill - Verified booking

The Old Town Hall was in an excellent location for our needs (three of our guests were taking part in the Dunwich Dynamo). The description on your website explained that the first twin bedroom had a connecting door to the second twin room. This did not prepare us for the reality. The second twin room was only accessible via the first twin room and then the shower room. The en-suite was en-suite for both rooms. The WC (with a faulty flushing mechanism) was so close to the second twin room with the charming thin door that it could have been in the bedroom. This trip was a treat for friends and I was embarrassed when we eventually found the fourth room hidden away behind the downstairs loo. The fridge was also woefully small for a house of 8 people. The additional tiny fridge balanced on the freezer in the cupboard just frozen anything we put in. FYI, we could not find a teapot though one was listed on the inventory - just thought you should know that. Nevertheless, we had a lovely time, eating and walking on the beach. It was just a shame about the bedrooms and the faulty WC.

A group of friends staying in Dunwich for the weekend and this was the perfect location. The property was very comfortable and very warm - which for an old property was a pleasant surprise. The heating was still needed as mornings / evenings were still a little chilly. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. And we all agreed that the living room was very cosy in the evenings.. There are steep stairs but there is bedroom (2) / bathroom accommodation on the ground floor so this shouldn't cause a problem. Brilliant outside space as well.. And we all loved the characteristics of such an old house with all the beams and slopping floors... A very unique property and would definitely recommend staying here... Oh, and just across the road from Dunwich beach and a lovely pub a few steps away.. Everything you need...

What a gorgeous cottage! We were so lucky with the weather too. The beach is just a few minutes walk and you can see the sea and the marshes from the lovely lounge window. The sofas were really comfy and the kitchen well stocked. The courtyard garden had sun most of the day and had masses of seating. Cottage location is hard to beat and the short walk to Greyfriars in the evening was so peaceful. We even saw scarlet tiger moths in the churchyard and it was possible to watch the marsh harrier from the lounge/main bedroom - we didn't though as we spent most of the days outside :) There are three different places to eat in the adorable village and the museum and Ship Inn are both fabulous and just three doors down! Walks everywhere! Gorgeous in every way and mum had the best birthday yet (this one was her 80th!) Hard to beat.

We had a lovely stay here in this very clean little cottage in Dunwich. The decor throughout has been very thoughtfully selected. The stairs are a little tricky/wonky for any mobility issues particularly with the only toilet upstairs. We found the storage heaters difficult to use as they gave out very little heat. You can buy good firewood at the farm shop & cafe a couple of miles away. The welcome tray of home laid eggs was much appreciated. The little garden/courtyard is well designed and a delight to use in good weather from the kitchen patio doors. The location is great with several walks from the property and the fabulous birdwatching area, Minsmere, just around the corner. There are many places to visit nearby including walks at Thorpeness and Orford & of course Southwold, Walberswick & Aldeburgh.

Very comfortable cottage, but needing a bit more care on basic items.

Exterior light does not work, due to broken switch in hall. Lighting in sitting room poor. Light bulbs either side of tv too glaring and bright. Need to be replaced with soft white bulbs. Lights above sofa stuck on dim as dimmer switch does not work. Kitchen very well equipped, but a colander and a pair of kitchen scissors would help. Lovely comfortable sofa and gorgeous bed. Slept so well. Thank you. Best vacuum cleaner we have ever encountered in a holiday let. We appreciate that it's early in the season, but when we sat outside, the impression was of a lack of attention to the exterior area. Not a pleasant place to sit. It just looked unkempt. All this sounds very critical, but it's a lovely cottage, and could be so much better if more attention was paid to the little things.
