What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Plant - Verified booking

The Beeches is on a farm and yet separate from the activities of the farm. It is set in its own grounds with a decent size all around garden. The views from the front of the property are simply magnificent and the rear garden (complete with a BBQ) is extremely quiet and private. The accommodation has three beds and two baths a great lounge with a large TV and in a separate room there is a playstation and a table football game. There are some great walks directly from the house and many more in the local area. The hosts were extremely welcoming and we had homemade cakes on arrival . There are plenty of places to visit, the waterfalls are particularly good and if you are feeling energetic then I would recommend the "Elephant Trees" walk where I saw to my delight a flock of Curlew. There are numerous places to eat, however I would wholeheartedly recommend an Italian restaurant in the nearby town of Crook called Perla Nera, their home made bread sticks are excellent and the Black squid ink pasta with king, tiger and baby prawns was probably the best pasta dish that I have every had.

We loved staying at Beeches Cottage, Sarah the owner welcomed us when we arrived, and was on hand but not intrusive if we needed anything. The house was beautiful inside and out, very clean and had everything we needed, with lovely open countryside views at the front of the property. The garden is a fantastic space and very peaceful, all you can hear is the birds singing in the trees, and the occasional call of the sheep and new born lambs which were in the field in front of the house. The property is in a lovely quiet location, but close to the local village if you needed anything. There are some beautiful areas and historic places to visit quite close by. I would definitely recommend Beeches Cottage to anyone. We look forward to booking this property again in the not too distant future. Thank you so much Sarah and family, it was a pleasure to meet you.

A mid-week break with an elderly parent and my dog. Fabulous cottage in a beautiful quiet location, yet only a short distance from shops/services. Very spacious and comfortable and immaculately clean. Views were superb, particularly looking across the dale from the kitchen. We loved watching the sheep/lambs playing in the field out front. Also saw ducks, pheasants, rabbits, bats. Quality garden furniture so was nice to sit outside in sun or shade & the huge lawned garden was great for the dog to run around. The cottage would also suit larger family groups, with the two lounges/Tv’s, piano, chess set, table football, board games, bbq, swing ball etc There was something for everyone. Lovely to meet and chat to Sarah and family. Enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend.

The property was fantastic - the only thing we found was a blocked sink which we dealt with using a bottle of Mr Muscle.

..! If I was being really picky then I'd suggest a little more help with the TV would be good and for the life of me I never managed to fathom the DVD player but that was a very minor issue. What was a more of an issue was the £100 bond which was not a problem but we never received an email with details of how to pay it. We tried to contact the property owners who initially did not respond, we then tried to contact Sykes who to be honest ignored us and we ended up talking to a computer. We did try to telephone SYKES but this just ended up with a 2024 typical disconnect and bugger off. That's not good enough..! Why? If we'd of been travelling we would not have had email access. In our case, this wasn't the problem but for goodness sake pick up your phones.
