What our customers say about their holidays

Lovely place to stay with a private decking/patio area with hot tub, comfortable chairs and lounger.

Perfect for good weather. Some concerns about fire safety .. there is an internal wood burner, a big fire pit on the wood decking (and what looked like another fire pit in the middle of a coffee table on the decking). The hot-tub is also wood-fire heated. With careful use these should be fine but it only takes a moment for a kid to become over-excited or a spark to land in the wrong place. I'd have liked to have seen a fire extinguisher in the kitchen at least. The lodge is really great inside - beautifully equipped. However, could we please have the instruction manuals for the dishwasher and air fryer? And could we have some oven gloves please? A visitor info pack would mean it'd not be necessary to explain the hot-tub use/buttons and could also include the Wifi password. The property is within close proximity of a rail track (Stamford to Oakham) - some may like to be made aware of that as trains (quite noisy) seem to be every 20 mins or so and run quite late into the night. The general description may need a bit of an update - the bath isn't P-shaped (so what?) and the 'communal freshwater dipping area' isn't actually a thing. Would recommend to those wanting a private and relaxing break as there's plenty to explore and do around Oakham and the Rutland Water area.

Firstly please let me apologise as I had completed the feedback form in the lodge but then accidentally packed it.

What a wonderful stay my family and I had. From the minute we arrived with the lovely touch of the Prosecco, eggs and condiments and the radio playing it instantly felt like home. Everywhere was clean and we could not wait to get in to the hot tub. We all slept extremely well and felt the beds were super comfy, we did forget to check what mattress it was on the double bed so if you are able to tell us that would be fab. Plenty of towels, and bathrobes for our use. We thought all the white goods worked extremely well from the dishwasher to the washing machine. The hot tub was great and we enjoyed a daily dip. We would definitely recommend staying again and if there is a way we can book direct I would be keen to know if possible. Points to note which are no way a negative but nice to know so they can be sorted. The light above the sink in the main bathroom did not work and also one light in the en suite. The room with the 2 single beds the door is very squeaky and so is the front and back doors. There was also an ants nest in the utility cupboard but it did not effect our stay. It would be nice to have a lamp of some sort in the living room for the evenings. But we still had a truly wonderful stay and would highly recommend. Thankyou so much.

Quiet , comfortable and relaxing stay.

Hot tub and sauna a real bonus. Flat and private garden. Children's play area was open, and another play area by the community centre. Comfortable bed, good shower and well equipped lodge. Welcome pack was lovely, the eggs were especially good. Fresh bread can be ordered from reception. Days out to Rutland Water, Oakham, Stamford, Fineshade Woods and Barnsdale gardens. Easy walk to village, 2 pubs and a shop. Ate in both pubs and would recommend them. Some details missing from website which would have been handy to know:- dressing gowns, washing up liquid and sponge, iron and board and hair dryer all provided. We also had to pay to hire the pool (£16); other reviews said it was free. Would benefit from black out lining in bedrooms and better clothes airer and pegs to avoid over reliance on tumble dryer. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, came back feeling relaxed. In this climate especially we felt safe and protected.

Rowen lodge was fantastic and just what we wanted/ needed.

Everyone we spoke to was more than happy to help and so friendly! The facilities In the lodge were better than we could have thought. We really really loved the heated flooring, many bonus points. There was everything you needed to cook i.e. pots pans, cutlery. MY partner had 1 comment of maybe include more than 1 frying pan. However, didn't affect our stay plus who really cooks that much aha. The swimming pool was a great addition, but do bear in mind it is chilly water. Again, will not effect your time. THE HOTTUB IS THE BEST THING! Of an evening laying the in hot tub looking up at the stars was so beautiful. We will 100% be booking to come back in warmer weather. The local villages were so peaceful and beautiful to explore. Would highly recommend. They also have a park onsite with camping spaces and motorhome hook ups. We didn't try but a couple times a week there is a café open which seemed to have a great menu and prices.

The lodge is set in a great location behind the electric gates so felt very safe and secure.

The beds were very comfortable and all the lining and towels were immaculate. Unfortunately the place needs some attention!!!! The hot tub was shocking in my opinion as a hot tub owner. The cover was rotten and water logged. Being so heavy both cover brackets had broken and needed 2 people to lift the cover off. The water had not been changed for a while and was very cloudy and smelt. The freezer door had not been shut properly for days so it was completely iced up and unusable. broken blinds in the kitchen and every joint on the guttering outside dripped after 15 mins of rain for days. We booked the communal swimming pool on site for half hour which was about 5 foot deep all over. The water was so cloudy we could not see the bottom so decided not to risk any infections and didnt go in. Lots of good points but not good value for mone
