Get away from it all with Llanberis log cabins and lodges

Looking for a wild Welsh adventure?

Llanberis in Wales is a popular holiday destination thanks to its beautiful scenery and brilliant access to adventure activities.

If you're an adrenaline junkie, the area has plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy including walking, biking, climbing and watersports. Not into the adventure stuff? Llanberis is also a lovely village to relax and recharge with lots of boutiques, cafes and pubs to explore, not to mention the spectacular views and landscape.

Snowdon, Wales' highest peak, is just a short drive away, offering breathtaking views of the mountainous terrain.

If all this sounds like your dream holiday, then why not stay in one of our Llanberis log cabins? You can take it easy and reconnect with nature in your cosy cabin, before heading out to explore the sites and attractions of the area.

Why choose a Llanberis weekend break or staycation?

Llanberis is known as the Gateway to Snowdon and is a beacon for adventure and nature lovers.

This pretty mountain village in Snowdonia National Park is nestled next to a lake at the foot of Mount Snowdon, making it a picturesque and exciting place to visit. Thanks to its hiking and walking opportunities and epic views and surroundings, people from all walks of life including photographers, artists, climbers, and tourists flood to Llanberis.

The history of the village dates back to a time when the land was ruled by Welsh princes. Dolbadarn Castle was built by Welsh Prince Llywelyn the Great in the early 13th century and remained active until nearly 1300. The historical site overlooks the lake and is a joy to walk around.

To get a taste of the area's fascinating history, head to the National Slate Museum, where you'll be transported back in time when Snowdonia was the capital of the North Walian industry and slate mining. The museum is shadowed by the towering slate mountains, and you can see the old Victorian workshops and demonstrations to get an insight into what it was like to work in a quarry.

While you're there, follow the footpath from the museum and pop into the Old Quarry Museum. You'll find lots of old medical equipment used to treat injuries and be treated to some amazing views of Snowdon too.

No trip to Llanbeis is complete without visiting Snowdon. There are a variety of ways to climb the mountain, from walking paths to more challenging climbs. If you don't want to hike up the 1085-metre mountain, jump on the world-famous Snowdon Mountain Railway. This historic railway covers five beautiful miles to the summit, where you'll be treated to some of the best views you'll ever see.

Nature lovers will fall in love with Llanberis Falls, also known as Ceunant Mawr Waterfall. Located close to the village centre, this incredible waterfall plunges crystal clear water over a hundred feet into a gorge. The falls pour down two different stages with a pretty rock pool breaking the fall.

For more water fun, make sure you visit Llyn Padarn. This is one of North Wales's largest natural lakes and sits just on the edge of the village. The lake looks like something from a postcard and is surrounded by dramatic peaks. You can walk around the lake on the six-mile circular route, hop on a boat trip, tackle some water sports, and even take a dip (if you're brave enough to plunge into the chilly water).

There is lots more to discover in this stunning Wales hotspot. Why not book one of our lovely Llanberis self-catering properties and discover the area at your own pace?

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Vicky - Verified booking

We booked this as a last minute short break to visit family.

Nice location and holiday park; loved the pool on the one day it was sunny enough to use it! Let down by an overwhelming smell of damp throughout the property. The inside of drawers & cupboards smelt very strongly of damp, for example in the kitchen glasses had to be washed before using to get rid of the smell and I didn’t unpack as I didn’t want my clothes to smell of it. We did leave windows and doors open all time we were in, but it didn’t help. There were air fresheners but they just masked the smell and faded quickly. No extraction fans in bathroom or kitchen. Generally poor cleaning throughout, lots of dirt and dead bugs in corners, shower didn’t drain very well, clearly not been properly cleaned in a long time, this was the end of the school summer holidays. Beds were comfortable but let down by really cheap duvets and covers. There was a 2 seater sofa (not very comfortable) and 2 small armchairs, would be a real squeeze for 6 people. No hairdryer. Has everything else you’d need for a short break and would be lovely if cleaned and the damp sorted out.

The location is fabulous, perfect setting on the river, the owners are lovely.

However, the hut itself could do with a really good clean, I had to clean the cupboards before I put our food in there, whilst it wasn't 'dirty' as such there certainly could have been an improvement on the cleanliness, that said the bedding & towels were spotless. The bed & sofa take over the inside & I think there could be better use/arrangement of the furniture inside, also, the bed itself is not very comfortable, it was ok for x2 nights. It's basically a mini caravan with a double bed & large sofa, it has got a chemical loo inside (which you have to empty yourself), there is a toilet & shower block near by, if you want a shower ensure you take 20p & £1 coins (£1 is approx. 2.5 minutes) I would imagine, in the height of summer (we stayed early November), with the great decking area over-looking the river, it would be lovely chilling out there outside after a lovely walk around the Welsh countryside..

This is such a great find, perfect for me and my dog.

Lovely tranquil spot and scenery, and location wise it couldn't be better (10mins to Llanberis, 10mins to Caernarfon, 10mins to Bangor, 20mins over to Anglesey). It had everything you need at an affordable price. Not sure why people have given a bad review, this is glamping, on a camp site, so yes there is a separate shower block, and you refill your water bottles yourself, but it's right there next to the sheppard hut. And the parking is literally a few steps from your door. It's all very convenient and to have the chemical toilet inside the hut is a huge bonus for needing a wee in the night, a lot of sheppard huts don't have that. I can't fault this place and had a wonderful stay and will definitely return. Can't believe that previous people complained. Stop being so miserable and enjoy this little gem of a place for an excellent price.

This site is a little gem, facilities and shepherds hut are great.

However they are completely let down by the cleanliness, the hut had clean bedding which was good. The hut and equipment had not been cleaned at all after the previous people, we did not expect to start cleaning at the beginning of our holiday but we did. The site facilities were good, except they were never cleaned all week, the mop and cleaning cloths were disgusting in the toilets/showers. We are not complainers and do not usually leave reviews, but on this occasion feel we have to say something. If this sites cleaning was totally improved, this site would get five stars. Owners very friendly and helpful.

We booked at really short notice, booked at 9:15 in the morning and arrived before 6 the same evening.

John phoned me while I was on my way to let me know that he would be out when we arrived and that he wasn't expecting to be back until late so he would see me in the morning and that he had left the key in the door for us. The kitchen area was very well equipped with everything we needed and there was an extra blanket and clock radio supplied. It's a really peaceful site with a beautiful view and the decking area really adds to the space - a perfect spot for breakfast overlooking the river. John and his son were extremely helpful and I will definitely be returning.
