What our customers are saying about our Country Lodges In Okehampton To Rent.

"We stayed in the flat for a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only was there the interest of the railway itself, oozing nostalgia of its former Southern Railway glory, but it was also convenient to travel by car to both north and south coasts of Devon/Cornwall through lovely countryside. You quickly realise that Okehampton has become a centre for cycling and walking over and around Dartmoor, with fine nearby views of Yes Tor and other summits. Okehampton town centre (with 3 supermarkets) is a10-minute downhill walk away. The flat has everything you need: a double bedroom with an en-suite toilet, bath & shower; and the kitchen/dining/lounge area - the latter having a comfortable double sofa bed for two more people. Clean towels, sheets, cleaning materials etc were all provided. We found the flat simply decorated, but clean and tidy on our arrival. All the station staff and volunteers we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. Even Percy, the station cat was friendly too, although we didn't let him into the flat! On the main station, the Bulleid Buffet is open 10-4 weekdays and 9-6 weekends, serving all-day breakfasts, light lunches and teas/coffees. Note, anyone with mobility issues might have difficulty here as the flat is accessed by a staircase and there is no lift. On the Sunday of our stay, we exploited the benefit of the summer-only 50+ mile through rail round trip to Exeter for a £6 adult return fare, and although the 2-car diesel unit wasn't quite the Atlantic Coast Express, it didn't hang about on either the Dartmoor Railway (about 14 miles) and then Network Rail metals beyond Coleford. There was also the Dartmoor Railway's own shuttle train to Meldon Quarry, just beyond which is a fantastic viaduct over the West Okement River (now sadly downgraded to a foot & cycle path). However, should you have no interest in the railway, you would not find its presence a disturbance. If you dream that one day the Government will re-instate this line into the national rail network (as an alternative between Exeter & Plymouth, avoiding the present oft-threatened route via Dawlish sea wall) you would be well advised to stay here whilst the going is good..."

"A very charming little cottage, with parking and a garden. Sampford Courtenay is ideally situated for exploring. The downside to the cottage is that it is on a crossroads and the traffic noise is incessant night and day. We appreciate it's hay making time but numerous lorries and tankers pass through there. Sadly that would stop us returning. The ground floor living area is lovely and provides everything you need. However there were two problems upstairs. In the smaller bedroom the mattress needs replacing, it had a huge dip in the middle, which was aggravated by the sloping floorboards, we tried turning it over but it was still the same, so did not provide support or a comfortable nights sleep. In the main bedroom the floorboards slope in all sorts of directions but the biggest problem is that there is a step up in the middle of the room which is fine during the day but when dark is easy to forget, and my husband tripped over it but luckily wasn't injured. Other guests have mentioned it and a danger tape has been stuck on it but as previously suggested, if the floor was levelled with a step at the door to the bedroom the problem would be resolved."

"As a photo guide book (In barn itself) tells you this accommodation was a barn conversion. As such it was designed from the start to be a holiday let. This shows in the quality and layout of the barn, I couldn't fault it.Well done to owners and builder...... My wife and I both agree its the best holiday stay we've had. Owners were very approachable and are there to assist if needed. Ask them about the small walk at back of property along river. Barn was very conveniently placed for walks on Dartmoor. We did a lot of walking and didn't have travel more than 45 mins to furthest side of Dartmoor itself. We will definitely be going back....."

"Owners bent over backwards to make sure we had everything we needed and are very welcoming. The site is perfect for its tranquility and ideal for us as we cycled the Coast to Coast route, in sections, and wanted a central base halfway along the route. The owners provided us with secure storage for our bikes and even provided early learning books/toys for our baby granddaughter who visited for a few days. My wife and I are seasoned travellers and can honestly say this was one of the best rentals we have ever made. Congratulations to the owners for getting everything spot on."

"Fantastic little cottage, the decor was neutral and modern, the level of finish was very high and the bathroom was wonderful. Being of an ‘upside’ down arrangement made the bedrooms much cooler, which was lovely in the middle of a heat wave. The garden was brilliant for our son, who played football in the field, played on the rope swing and waded through the river, which he loved doing. Although. the owners were away on holiday themselves, Mandy text several times to make sure everything was okay. Overall a fantastic relaxing break."
