What our customers say about their holidays

    • Miss Relton - Verified booking

We came to The Boathouse as a honeymoon after our wedding. We were absolutely blown away by the location, it is so peaceful and absolutely full of wildlife. As a couple who are interested in watching all kinds of birds and animals, it was beautiful to simply look out of your window and see it all. Some of these including the kingfisher, bats and hearing owls during the evening. Where we stayed was dog friendly and the area the boathouse is in, is fenced all around. This meant that we could relax and let her run around the area without having to worry. In the property there were amenities for both ourselves and the dog, which was a really nice touch. Even the dog enjoyed waking early in the morning and watching the birds from the bed. The owners were very approachable and would check in to see how we were doing. They had left suggestions of local dog walks and places we could eat, which was very handy. Not to mention upon arrival, they had purchased bread from the local bakery, milk, eggs, crisps, homemade strawberry jam and butter. Little touches like this made us feel right at home! In terms of the things to do within the property, there is a lovely bath in the bedroom and a hot tub outside with views of the surrounding countryside. We would highly recommend and will be returning here ourselves!

The lodge is in a beautiful location, with floor to ceiling windows, surrounded by fields making it a very relaxing experience. The lodge itself is well equipped and maintained with plenty of cooking utensils and accessories, charging points for phones and towels provided, including separate hot tub towels. We arrived to a lovely hamper with bread, milk, eggs, home made jam, butter, crisps and dog treats. It is very dog friendly with dog towels, a blanket and even a dog bed if needed and the lodge is enclosed so that the dog cannot get out. The hot tub was well positioned in the grounds and added to the experience of our weekend. The hosts were extremely hospitable and helpful during our weekend, we would definitely re-book. There are a number of pubs in close proximity, we walked to The Three Chimney's twice and booked a roast dinner which was fantastic. The lodge is well located for visits to local vineyards.

Due to the fact that our Internet connection was repeatedly on our way and our route planner was unreliable, we had a lot of trouble finding the house, despite the fact that we had received the coordinates. In addition, we were severely delayed by ferry and file. However, the owner kept us in touch - every time we were able to connect by telephone - very patiently, just as long as we reached the house (one hour late). Despite the raining rain and the late time we were warmly welcomed in a lovely Cottage with every possible comfort, from power adapters to hair dryer and any imaginable type of kitchenware. Milk in the fridge, beautiful bouquets on the table, a lovely wood stove lit directly for us, hiking maps and all kinds of tourist information. A warm welcome to a delicious, green, quiet place! Absolutely incredible place to stay. Both owners of Plush Huts are very welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble if we had a query. We stayed in the Bolthole which we struggled to fault in anyway. Even the bathroom has under floor heating! Everything was included in the cabin right up to a milk throther for fancy coffees. As for the dog friendly promise, that couldn't have been more true. We have been on a few dog friendly cabins but this one is 100% better than all of them. Very dog secure with proper fencing, dog towels, blankets and even dog beds incuded. Have no doubts when i say your dog will be absolutely safe here. The welcome pack was a great addition as well as an immaculately clean hot tub. Myself and my fiancée are already talking about coming back again. Highly recommended! Thank you for a lovely stay x

We can recommend beautiful walks and bird lovers, we really enjoyed two walks along the RMC. The first day we walked to Appledore along the right hand side of the canal and saw several swans, a kingfisher, reed warblers, white throats, chiffchaffs, and heard two nightingales and several cuckoos. We also heard a great number of marsh frogs. Wednesday we walked down the left hand side of the canal and heard and saw two turtle doves, heard a nightingale, saw longtail tits, a pied flycatcher, and heard hundreds of marsh frogs. We have enjoyed seeing the woodpeckers on the feeders and the beautiful bluebells in the forest. Thank you!
