What our customers say about their holidays

A Great property let down by general maintenance.

We enjoyed our stay but unless things change, we won't be back. I would suggest this was OK value for money on the price we paid but looking at next year’s fees it is asking too much and even at this year’s price unless there was some changes it won't be for us. Details 1st thing I must say is the cleaners / management staff are 1st class, they gave excellent, professional and speedy responses to our questions before and during our stay, the place felt clean on arrival. Things we loved : The general space, Kitchen, large dining area, the Karaoke, the Gym, Sauna & Jacuzzi. Kitchen: Cutlery is cheap and bendy, lack of wine glasses but overall, I would say 8/10 Bedrooms: Small towels provided but all clean and tidy, the master bedroom is pretty special although not all the functions worked on the Jacuzzi bath it was still a great addition, the lighting in the bathroom was also amazing but let down by low wattage bulbs and the toilet was dark, overall 9/10 Main room: (Party Room) suffers from a lot of lighting issues, cheap LED lights that flicker, Sky TV kept cutting out, this is not really a cosy place to sit and watch TV which is why it’s more of a party room and for that purpose its brilliant 10/10 for a party night ! Gym: Well-equipped but the treadmill was not great with the belt jamming which made it dangerous. Sauna was great (not much lighting) but did the job, Hot tub only goes to 38 Degrees unlike most that go to 40 so we didn't use as we are used to ours at 40. All of this in the same area and including a shower & toilet and as you don't get all this in most places, so we need to give it a 9/10 Cinema Room: This could be so much better, it needs a new projector, it does work but VERY dim, lighting in and around this area needs work, it smells of drains between the utility room and cinema also. You can't plug a games machine etc. Power Seating Transformers buzz as other reviews mentioned. Overall 3/10 but could be a 10/10 with not much investment. My Advice: If you have already booked, go there and enjoy it, perhaps check if any of the above has been resolved, I did provide the chap with a long list of smaller issues, if they were all resolved I would re-consider booking again. If you have not booked, check with Sykes to see if there has been improvements made and if not consider other properties but anyone booking large places like this will know they usually sound much better than they actually are, perhaps I am also too picky because as I said we really did have a good time, improving this place would really not take much.

This was our second visit to Park Hill and had another fantastic week.

It is perfect for family get togethers. There are a lot of problems with the building itself that havn't been remedied since last year like the cold shower in bedroom 4 but we managed with the more than adequate bath. The main gate was also not working but managable manually. On the plus side the site maintenance man Paul is amazing. He contacted us early on to ask if we had any issues so we did mention that the indoor hot tub had a very strong chlorine smell. He came out right away and did a full clean of the tub which solved the problem. He also emptied our rubbish bins from the house and took them all down to the entrance for emptying the next morning. He was very friendly and approachable so we didn't mention the other little things as they did not undermine our holiday. The house is beautiful and the lodge and bungalow a bonus, all being warm and comfortable. We watched Christmas films in the amazing cinema room and enjoyed the treats that were left out for us on arrival. The views are outstanding, yet it is possible to walk into Clitheroe and back if you want to book a meal out or visit the castle and shops as we did. Plenty of parking available in the extensive grounds and dog friendly too. Situated overlooking the sculpture park with amazing walks along the river it is perfect for families. We watched the local farmers Christmas tractor run from the balcony, it was amazing. This property is amazing all year round. Great value for money too.

We stayed here for a week during our summer holidays.

The overall impression is ok, the rooms are rather comfortable and furnished in a faux-elegant, but nevertheless consistent, style. The bed is a bit small but acceptable, bathrooms are very nice. Also, the location is excellent as a base for exploring the Forest of Bowland and other parts of Lancashire. However, there were several drawbacks leading to a weak rating: - Contrary to advertisement, there is no dishwasher - The internet speed is extremely poor, so that uploads of photos to the cloud after a days wal kwere virtually impossible. We used our mobile data volume most of the time - The Nespresso mashine is broken, so we never had coffee in the morning - The kitchen provided most essentials, however, quality of the instruments (knives, ladles etc.) was rather poor, and pots and pans only came in mini sizes (so that cooking for more than 2 persons will presumably be difficult) - Although there is no dishwasher, there was virtually no washing-up liquid provided (bottle was almost empty) - The cottage is located immediately next to the A6 (meaning, approx. 5m next to it). The bedrooms are located at the back though, so we were not much disturbed by car noise Overall, we think that the location has much potential if only a tiny bit of effort were invested in such details such as internet speed, working appliances, and correct listing of available gadgets.

      A wonderful house !

We live quite close by but hadn’t realised how gorgeous the countryside is around the farmhouse . The gardens are beautiful and so well maintained. We are of an age where mattresses are important ! Apart from the double bedroom at the back of the house above the hall, the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. The pool table was a great hit with all ages of our family. Just a few suggestions. We had very watchful adults around our toddlers, however the windows upstairs are set attractively low down as per the age of the house and we felt there could be more secure locks .The second living room was hardly used. What is more important is that there is only room for 4/5 adults on the sofa in the main living room. If one has rented the house to be with family it means that if 10 of you would like to sit together ,at least 5 have to spend the evening sitting on dining chairs. Things to do Great walks from the house ,yet only a few minutes drive into Chorley for provisions. Astley Hall , Heskin Hall , Samlesbury Hall , Hoghton Tower all interesting places within a short drive. Lots of family attractions nearby.Farm visits, cinemas, bowling etc. Best of all is the lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere with peaceful views. We will certainly book the house annually if we can!

So where to start this review, the property itself is stunning and in a fabulous location.

It accommodates for a large party comfortably. The property is looking tired and needs to be maintained better. The finer details definitely let this property down. The listing gives 3 or 4 numbers to contact if you have any issues but when attempting to contact we was unable to get through to anybody. This is meant to be a secure property but the large gate at the bottom was not able to close. This is not ideal when it's a property that allows pets and also having several kids in the party. The sauna and jacuzzi are a great addition and the cinema room was used by everyone, one transformer in the cinema room emitted a constant buzzing which was noticeable when the volume was not high. The listing also states that there is a games room and pool table, this is not correct unless I missed it in the 2 nights I was in the property. The cleanliness of the property was generally fine but their was dirty and crumbs from previous visitors under the chairs and sofa. On the first night I went into the utility room and there was well over 40 flies, this must be a problem due to the fact that they had fly spray in one of the cupboards. Would I stay again yes but I would not pay what I paid for it probably not due to all the finer details.
