What our customers say about their holidays

    • Fiona - Verified booking

Clearly it’s a very old property however it clearly needs a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to a standard that adequately reflects the rental being charged.

The property is damp. All of our clothes smelt damp and musty when we returned and all had to be washed. There is only 1 standup shower in this 4 bedroom property. It’s clearly overused and as such there is black mould growing in the shower due to their being no ventilation in the bathroom. The 2nd double bedroom needs a king size bed in their and not a double as it’s far too small for 2 adults. We had to use the same towels for a whole week as there is no mid week change of towels which is again very poor given the price paid for this cottage. The kitchen is full of useless things you would be unlikely to use on a holiday. The space would be much better left empty for your guests to put food in. The property is advertised as no pets but I can assure you there have been animals staying here as you can smell dog in the living room carpet / sofas. There were ample cots / high chairs and a lovely toy basket for babies / toddlers which was a nice touch however some appropriate dinner plates / bowls / cups would have been useful. If you have never stayed in an old cottage then you will definitely get a real old cottage experience here. Location was good but it’s a real shame the crown (pub opposite the house) was only open certain days for drinks with no food menu due to no kitchen staff. This was a common theme across the island in general. Overall I would say this cottage is very overpriced and really needs quite a lot of money spent on it to get it up to a good rentable standard.

We had a wonderful stay here.

The cottage itself is beautiful, it's well worth venturing into the woodland and stream behind the property, which feels like a fairy glenn. We took daily walks to the local cove alone the main path and each day saw a seal! The local wildlife here is fantastic. At the cottage we saw a wide variety or birds, a visiting fox, a toad and the icing on the cake, a badger! Make sure to leave the nuts along the patio each night to have chance at a glimpse of him/her. The games room was an added bonus, my partner and I enjoyed more than a few games of pool, table tennis and darts. We met Huw, the owner who was lovely and welcoming and clearly very proud of all the work that has gone into the cottage and gardens. And rightly so! Local places we can reccomend a visit to that are dog friendly: Fishguard fort (very small walk but worth a look,we combined this with a mooch around Fishguard and the harbour) Castell Henleys Iron Age Village, The coastal path near the cottage, Tenby (an hours drive, but worth it) and New Quay (about an hours drive as well but we went on a boat trip and managed to see a pod of dolphins). All in all a wonderful week! We well most certainly be returning! Thank you!

Loved our stay at Trewarch Cottage.

Was greeted at the Cottage by owner Huw. Gave us a quick tour of the property. Perfect location set within a wooded area with private natural waterfalls cascading down through the ancient woods leading towards an almost private beach set in a cove. Fantastic walks from the beach over the coastal path routes. Huw is a bird lover and there is x2 small milk churn buckets in the dining area filled with peanuts and seeds. Bird table outside French doors for refilling the bird table. Basically you don't need the tv the birds will keep you occupied, often see a pair of jays and a woodpecker plus all kinds of small birds. Thought I saw an Emu at one point Ha Ha! Bedrooms were adequate and comfy Living room has plenty of reference books encyclopedias etc. plus puzzles and card games which we like. Basically, if you like nature and peace and want to relax and feel good about life....this cottage is for you. Would love to visit one day in the future. The games room is cool, please note not attached to the cottage but still close by. Thanks David Heidi & Ralphy

The house was spacious and comfortable, lovely comfy beds, well-equipped kitchen.

Fairly clean but nor spotless. Despite instructions provided we failed to get the screen in the living room so couldn't use the television or Playstation or DVD and as we had children with us, we would have been glad of them. The toilet seat in the en-suite bathroom of the master bedroom kept falling off. We had difficulty with the rubbish / recycling which should have gone out on Tuesday morning. We noticed when we got there that the recycling bin was already full to overflowing. There were notes asking us to put rubbish out but the timetable for collection was up to April 2018!!! We tried to calculate which it should be, decided it should be the recycling bin so we put that out - and then the rubbish lorry came and therefore didn't take it!!! By the time we left on Saturday both bins were over-full. Despite these minor irritations we had a lovely relaxing stay and we loved the Crown Inn - the adults for the beer and gun and the children for the swings and duck-feeding. The children also had a lot of fun at the village playground.

We had a comfortable stay in this cosy little building in a lovely little town in a beautiful area.

.. with free parking. We had a few (hum-drum but potentially frustrating) minor issues within our first couple of hours, but, the owners, once we were able to contact them [our signal was very very poor/patchy in the vicinity! :-( ] were very swift and efficient in sorting them out for us. Some of the previous reviews raise other issues, & the owners are clearly keen to take these comments on board & further improve guests' experience. They are very amenable & friendly. The TV offers Netflix & Amazon Prime as well as iPlayer & many stations...but we are low-tech, so couldn't get the former two to work as they required apps that we didn't have access to...so, advice regarding this for old duffers like us (no smart phones!) would be beneficial. The locality is full of super independent shops, pubs, cafes & restaurants, as well as wonderful walks in spectacular scenery. We had a lovely short break despite the predictable Feb'-like weather... :-/ ... and would recommend Ty Rydd, which is well on the way to being an exceptional little gem. :-)
