Enjoy an exciting city break with our Leeds holiday cottages

Looking for a city break destination that also gives you easy access to breathtaking countryside? Then the vibrant city of Leeds has everything you need and more for an unforgettable getaway.

Nestled in West Yorkshire, Leeds is a vibrant and interesting city where you can enjoy excellent food, fantastic shopping, exciting nightlife, and gorgeous outdoor space and nature.

This thriving city sits just a stone's throw from two major National Parks: the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors, so whether you want to take in the sights of the city or relax in miles of natural beauty, you'll have no problem finding the perfect rental in Leeds.

Whether you're visiting with friends, family, or your special someone, take a peek at our collection of Leeds holiday cottages and discover hundreds of beautiful Leeds self-catering properties just waiting to welcome you home.

Why choose a Leeds weekend break or staycation?

Leeds is a treasure trove of hidden gems, fascinating history, brilliant shopping districts, world-class attractions and museums, and a bustling cultural scene.

This dynamic city blends tradition and history with a cosmopolitan vibe you will love, and our range of Leeds holiday cottages are the ideal accommodations to base yourself in, so you can experience it all.

The architecture in Leeds is not something to be ignored. Much of the city's architecture is from the Victorian era, and just walking around the city can feel like you've stepped back in time. One of our favourite buildings is the magnificent Leeds Town Hall, which was constructed as a symbol of the city's growing importance and wealth.

Before leaving the Town Hall, pop next door to the Leeds Art Gallery. The gallery is filled with a wide range of artwork and a gorgeous cafe that was once the main library reading room. It's a beautiful space to enjoy a well-earned cuppa and a slice of cake. For more art inspiration, head to the Henry Moore Institute and wander through galleries boasting work from the famous sculptor.

The Royal Armouries based in Leeds Docks is home to the UK's largest collection of armour, arms, and artillery, including Henry VIII's original armour. Don't miss the real-size elephant armour before you leave.

If you love shopping then you'll be spoilt for choice in Leeds. Briggate is the pedestrianised shopping area in the heart of the city. It's filled with street performers and yards and alleyways (known as the Backstreets) that look untouched by time. For more shopping, make sure the Victorian Arcades are on your itinerary. These four historical arcades are amazing to walk through and are a true architectural masterpiece.

No visit to Leeds would be complete without seeing Kirkgate Market, Europe's largest indoor market. This is the birthplace of Marks & Spencer, and the market offers a huge range of delicious foods, produce, and entertainment.

There are lots of fantastic bars and clubs if you fancy a wild night out on the town. It's a great city for a party weekend, and we love the range of quirky and contemporary rooftop bars where you can enjoy your favourite tipple and gaze out at views of the city.

It's not just city excitement that draws people to Leeds. The city is also filled with stunning gardens and parks when you need to take a break from seeing the sights.

We love the idyllic Roundhay Park and Temple Newsam to relax in. Or if you want to go slightly further afield, head to the picturesque Kirkstall Abbey. Sitting within easy reach of the city centre, the abbey is one of the most complete medieval 12th-century Cistercian Abbeys in the UK. It's the ideal place to wander around, take a breath, and enjoy a picnic.

With so much to see and do, you'll only wish your Leeds weekend break could last longer.

Find your dream Leeds holiday rental

No matter where you choose to stay in Leeds, you'll be able to make the most of the city's many attractions, including the Royal Armouries Museum and leafy Roundhay Park. Or, why not enjoy a day trip to Tudor-era Temple Newsam, handsome Harewood House or Kirkstall Abbey?

Browse stylish apartments in Leeds City Centre, cute and cosy cottages on the outskirts of the city, or pet-friendly holiday homes with a host of luxury features, from free WiFi and flat-screen TVs to bubbling hot tubs and heated swimming pools - just what you need after a busy day sightseeing.

Whatever requirements you have for your trip, just let us know and we can help pick the perfect holiday home that you and your favourite people will love.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mollie Mae - Verified booking

We had a fantastic stay for our first family holiday in years at Cunliffe House.

Totally relaxing environment and would definitely come back, we were a little disturbed by the banging and construction work going on next door but this can't be helped, and the gentleman that came to fetch the mower from the shed a couple of times was very friendly and respectful, especially when he asked if he was okay with the dog. The pool table is not like the one on the pictures which is a shame, but we spent plenty of time on it regardless, a real highlight! My only suggestion would be to have some form of barrier or gate on the drive, or where the outdoor seating area is, as this is not enclosed and we had to park our cars in a way to try and block it off as we had a dog with us - we had a few people walk by the bottom of the drive with dogs/runners etc so this was something we had to be aware of. Although the listing says "fully enclosed", unfortunately this is not true as our dog could easily get out if he chose, and there is a large space in the hedge that goes straight through to a six foot drop onto the road/pathway. So if you do have a dog that is likely to wander or is in anyway reactive, a lead is very necessary! This didn't take away from our stay though as it's still relatively private, and the whole house was lovely, decorated to a beautiful standard, and we genuinely felt like we were at home. We made use of the fire pit/BBQ, went in the hot tub nearly every day, and had an all round fabulous time. We hope to be back soon!

Nice & cosy property in a peaceful location.

Being able to walk to the cricket club & the atmospheric Woolpack pub was a bonus, where we had a very good meal. A lovely welcome hamper was provided on arrival. Plenty of hot water and linen & towels provided were of very good quality. The kitchen was well equipped. Unfortunately our group was a little disappointed. There was food from previous guests left in the oven. Broken teapot in cupboard had leaked and left a brown tea stain in cupboard. We removed couple of beer bottles that had been left in games room. A broken leg on the lounge armchair & lounge suite was worn. Also a broken zip on the conservatory sofa. Soap container in master en-suite almost empty on arrival & dusty skirting boards in Master en-suite. Lack of wardrobes in some bedrooms. The outside table & chairs appeared not been cleaned for sometime & the fire pit table had ashes left in it. I contacted the owner re: some of the issues. She apologised for the cleaner having overlooked some things & she offered to send someone up to address the outside issues but as it was our penultimate evening we declined. Some of the above would indicate that the cleaning/maintenance could be better. We’ve previously stayed in other properties with Sykes.

Overall our stay was really good!

Property and location perfect for us and our dogs. The hot tub was very scummy when we first used it so contacted pool maintenance and they came out the next day. He emptied it and cleaned it which meant it was out of action for a couple of hours. Having a nice clean hot tub was great! Inside the property were lots of candles, we lit the two in the lounge which already contained used candles, one candle fell against the holder and cracked the glass badly! We did leave a note to warn that it was broken and dangerous. Also another's candle holder set on fire whilst we were relaxing in the lounge. We dealt with it but felt it would be better if there was a no candle policy in the property. The games room was brilliant! So much fun! We would definitely return for longer as there are lots of places to visit around Esholt. Ps we couldn't find the vacuum cleaner which would have been handy! This is a great property with good bedroom combinations so suits all age ranges.

We had a great week at Cunliffe house.

It has a great set up with the hot tub and games room, as well as plenty of space so you can escape from each other. Beautiful patios and we loved watching the bats while using the firepit. The bedrooms are well appointed, particularly the 2 ensuites. The kitchen has plenty of space but as foodies we'd have appreciated better sharp knifes than are available. Maybe a sharpener would help? I added a plastic lemon squeezer to the items, as we needed one. As others have pointed out the main sitting room's sofas need reupholstering as they are past their best, although look lovely. The garden room has more upright sofas though, and it is a great room to sit in and relax, whilst admiring the gardens. I'd definitely recommend it as a holiday location. The Woolpack served tasty food if you fancied lunch and the village has a number of walks. Hopefully we'll visit again. Thank you!

We loved: the house, the location, the garden, hot tub, rooms, en-suites, the cleanliness, the WiFi, the space and layout, games room, views, sheep, owls and bunnies - we would definitely come again!

Things we think could be better: downstairs bathroom - could do with an update and a shower curtain for the shower and tiles which cover the wall to stop it getting soaked, it wasn’t really usable as a shower. Locks on bathroom doors - and ideally all upstairs doors and en-suites! More space to storing food To know someone was coming to collect something early in the morning! Not asking us to strip our beds and leave towels and sheets in the bath by email the day before we leave - when you’re paying a lot of money you don’t expect to be part of the housekeeping process, never been asked to do this before!
