Okay but definitely not outstanding⦠We arrived late afternoon as couldnât check in until 3pm as there had been a âdeep cleanâ complete.
The cottage was tidy but I donât know if I would say a deep clean had been conducted as there were areas that looked like they hadnât been hoovered or cleaned for a while (including mould on the blinds).Additionally the outside area needed a tidy up as there were weeds growing all over the patio. A concern for me was seeing that the smoke alarm couldnât even be closed properly. The location of the cottage was outstanding for us- everything was in close car proximity and there were some lovely walks in the area however be mindful that these are up great hills. And if you like the pub itâs definitely more than a 10 min walk- We are fit and in our 20âs and it took us half an hour! The bathroom was satisfactory, if you have any mobility issues or slightly larger than average you may struggle to get into the shower as the gap is slim between the doors. The games room was a great addition however couldnât be used after 9pm or before 10am. The dart flights were broken, there was only one table tennis ball, the table football handles were broken and the pool table wasnât properly level. My partner and I attempted to watch tv in the evening as the games room couldnât be used but this proved near impossible. Advertised as free satellite tv we assumed we would be able to watch most channels, also as being described as modern we we thought it would have iPlayer/ITVX however we couldnât even get free view channels. itv1 was the only channel we could get to work and this kept glitching due to the age of the tv- we proceeded to watch on our phones. The bed was the worst part of the experience for us. In the end we messaged the owner as we had 4 quits under the bed sheet and could still feel the mattress springs. The owner didnât reply until after we had left but a neighbour lent us a mattress topper which improved the quality of sleep for the final night. All this being said we had a lovely holiday however this cottage definitely needs a revamp (considering that the last PAT test done on one of the appliances was 2011!!!)

Iâve just got back from a few days away at Widmouth Farm Cottages and can truthfully say this is one of the nicest, cleanest and most peaceful places Iâve ever stayed.
The cottages are all laid out within a large courtyard area, with picnic benches and private gardens. I booked Robin but was very kindly upgraded to Swallow and when I walked in, I was not disappointed. First impression was that it was beautifully decorated with modern furniture and soft furnishings. It was spotlessly clean from top to bottom and very welcoming. The kitchen area is very well stocked and the bathroom is well appointed with a nice big walk in shower. The bedrooms were again spotlessly clean with crisp, fresh sheets and lovely soft furnishings, throws and cushions. Walking out of the cottage into my own front garden with furniture, out into the larger courtyard towards the animal enclosure, I didnât see much of them while I was here, but I took a walk down the field, on the mowed path to the private beach. Itâs quite steep and a little rocky but thatâs the Devon coast for you. The beach is lovely and quiet and I could see Watermouth bay from where I stood on the shore. I have nothing negative or neutral to say about this place, itâs all positive. Turning right out of the cottages and a couple of miles later, you come across Hele Bay, which is a lovely little inlet cove. I had a pasty and coffee at the cafe there and found a comfy place to soak up the sun and read. I spent several days at Woolacombe, and visited my favourite food outlet, S&P Fish Shop in Ilfracombe harbour, where I bought a delicious crab sandwich, which I took to Woolacombe and sat on the beach watching the tide come in. Widmouth Farm is beautifully kept outside too, grass neatly mowed, planters full and the courtyards all swept and clean. The helpful utility room gives you washing machine and dryer, and thereâs also a basket full of bagged animal feed, at 40p/bag and thereâs an honesty box next to it to pay for these. Thereâs also a boot wash area for ramblers. Just lovely. Thank you, Bethany and family for this wonderful and peaceful little haven. I very much hope to return!

A lovely place to stay, with plenty to do.
Having the private beach was a real bonus as no need to get in the car if planning a day at the beach. Our grandson enjoyed the play area and had lots of fun together with children from the other cottages. The cottage was as described, and yes small but adequate for us and our grandson. We struggled to sleep well due to the small double bed which I had read about in previous reviews but chose to ignore hoping this issue may have been addressed. The cottage is nicely decorated and fairly well equipped, the towels were lovely and soft and although small , the bed was comfy. Our dog was also well catered for, treats, poo bags and even a towel. The animals were very friendly ,well cared for and enjoyed being fed on a regular basis (food available from the shared utility room). We didnât have a problem with the wi-fi or mobile signal as was previously mentioned in reviews. Staff very friendly and seldom seen so not intrusive in any way. The location is excellent, plenty of walking directly from the farm and a very short drive to Ilfracombe for supplies or day out etc. Also walking distance to local attractions and eateries. All in all a fabulous place to stay and highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay at Stable cottage.
The owners were so friendly and helpful and the location was perfect for our needs. Ilfracombe is near by which we really enjoyed with our 8 year old twins and Lee Bay which is just down the road is a stunning place to visit especially when the tide is out so you can explore the smugglers steps and rock formations. The shared garden is beautifully kept and has lovely views at the bottom of the sea in the distance and the games room was enjoyed by us all. The cottage was lovely and clean on our arrival and the kitchen had everything you needed. Other reviews have said the space around the beds was very limited but this didn't impact us as there was plenty of storage space for your belongings and clothes but if you have mobility issues this could be a problem. My only constructive feedback was that the patio area we used to sit out on could have done with a little tidy up as it didn't quite match the well kept garden and I did find the double mattress not the most comfortable as I could feel the springs but then that could be because I'm used to a memory foam mattress! This didn't however spoil our stay and we hope to come back again one day.

The cottage is clean, comfortable and well equipped.
The best thing is the wonderful garden our hosts, Richenda and Kathy, shared with us. We looked forward to our evening G & T in the swinging garden seat watching the sun setting behind the fields. The view is stunning and the garden is large and well looked after. Our 7 year old son and our dog loved to run up and down the length of it. There is a picnic bench in the main garden and in the cottage's own little patio although it was a bit too chilly in October for alfresco dining! From our 7 yr old's point of view the highlight was the Games Room/Barn. He loved it. Thankfully we had beautiful weather but in October (or any time of year in the uk!) it provided peace of mind that if our plans got rained off we had options. There is wi-fi but the signal is intermittent. Fine for web access and social media but not good enough for streaming There was lots of good local information available. The dog friendly attractions/beaches/ cafes were particularly appreciated Kathy and Richenda were very friendly and helpful.
