"This cottage is delightfully quiet and tucked away, close to the river. A bright airy conversion has resulted in a modern and fantastically equipped venue incoproating all the essentials one would expect down to several luxaries including a piano! The property is very clean and warm, but if required there is a wood burner stove for added heating. We didn't need it as the electric heating was more than adequate to meet our needs. The living space was bright and airy and had a couple of long sofas which allowed us to lounge about as if we were at home. [Makes a change from those rental properties where the ability to relax is hampered by the inadequate seating arrangments!]The open plan lay-out of the building meant that the kitchen was to one end of the building with a very large breakfast bar and preparation surface into which the induction hob had been integrated and a micro-wave cooker placed to one end, whilst opposite was another workspace with sink and cupboards above. More than enough space to prepare and eat a meal. As an alternative there was a dining table and 6 chairs which could be utilised for meals leaving the breakfast bar for sprad-out preparation. The bedroom, whilst small in size was adequate and comfortable, as was the double bed. A wardrobe and a very large chest of drawers provided ample storgae space for clothes. This property allows pets and our dog was bowled over by being able to have a whole field to run around in and explore, not to mention the walk along to dyke at the side of the river. Pure dog heaven. We have to mention that the welcome we received from Jean (who looks after the property) was more then we could have expected. Due to delays we arrived late at the property but she had waited for our arrival and immediately made us a cup of tea with biscuits and was at great pains to make sure that we had everything we needed before she departed. Doesn't happen very often and we were really made to feel welcome which was a brilliant start to our stay.If I had any niggles, it was that the hot water didn't get very hot, but this was a minor point which we mentioned at the end of our dtay andf I suspect that this problem will have been sorted out within hours of our departure, such was the apparent desire to provide top rate facilities.Would we stay there again? Without a doubt, and we're already looking at the calendar to find a suitable date. Thanks again to all those asscoiated with GROVE WOOD COTTAGE."

"Eldred House is beautiful, just beautiful. As someone who manages 50,000 sq ft I know about property and facilities management and the house and gardens are immaculate. The rooms are spacious and well furnished - practical and tastefully furnished. It is extremely clean throughout, nothing was out of place. The facilities for hosting a large event are perfect - even down to four sauceboats! The kitchen has an aga which, for those not used to it, can be intimidating. However, with a little forethought into what you intend to cook and a review of the cook books provided (and/ or prior research) means it does not need to be overly concerning. The grounds are extensive and vary between woodland and grass. Plenty of room for a game of cricket or rounders! The administration from booking through to arrival and beyond is a well oiled machine, with every question you could consider answered easily. I have no hesitation in scoring Eldred House 10/10. There was truly not one thing which was lacking and everything was extremely well prepared. My only tip - Get your booking secured as soon as you can!"

"The location is great for exploring some very interesting towns and villages. We were very happy with the overall comfort and cleanliness of Rookwoods Cottage. It is a very relaxing place to rest and unwind. If you like to cook, rather than eat out then please be aware that the kitchen does not provide a 4 ring stove (only 2 ring). There is a dishwasher, which is handy because there is no draining board next to the sink - so we found ourselves using tea towels to make up for the absence of a draining board. The garden is large, private and not overlooked. The sun stays in the garden for much of the time and it's lovely to watch it set over the distant trees. Please be aware that there are no sunloungers/chairs at the property - only basic and simple wooden dining furniture. A lovely place to stay - it has been decorated to a very high standard with tasteful colour-schemes and fabrics."

"We were so glad that we chose this cottage for the Easter weekend . The cottage itself is extremely comfortable and very well equipped. The grounds were ideal for our collie to run around, mostly meadow but also woodland which was full of wildlife, and the views from the cottage are amazing. The River Crouch is quite close, with a variety of boats and water birds, and a stunning walk along the sea wall leads to the lovely town of Burnham on Crouch. We especially enjoyed a trip on the Burnham Ferry to Wallesea Island, where we spotted seals and had a wonderful walk along the coast path.We had a very warm welcome from Jean on arrival, and all the other people we met over the weekend were so friendly. We are already planning to return to Grove Wood Cottage as soon as we can."
