"Having arrived on Saturday we found no welcome pack, no soap in ether bathroom or kitchen sink, a very small TV which you could not read the writing from the sofa or two chairs. The internet was intermittent, both rotary washing lines need replacing as the lines are all hung down. The sofa and chairs were a joke, we both came home with stiff backs, you can feel the cushions going down at one side and feel the springs almost coming through the faux-leather seats. We thought the place was a bit grubby and had to wash some cups, plates and frying pans before use.The walls are very thin could hear everything from people next door, the kitchen table rocks when you put any hands or elbows down.Shortly after arriving we were asked by the farmer John for £20 cash for heating, having been advised by him that “it’s in the info online”. Upon checking, he was a month early; additional fees didn’t kick in until November. My husband is in remission and we thought a little holiday would do both of us some good, however, from 8am/8pm all we could hear every day was a petrol chainsaw until the day we left, it was just over the fence from where we were sat out. My husband was not so good some days and went to bed but was still unable to rest because of all the noise, we knew it was a farm and thought it would be cows or sheep not the constant noise of a chainsaw. My husband and I don’t normally write such critical things but it was not a cheap week; it was October and almost £450, having said all this the dogs liked the garden which was fully enclosed so did not worry about them getting out. We met the farmer’s daughter who was very nice and helpful. We would not be returning much to the farmers relief I’m sure. The shop is 4 miles away so nothing to do or see, the pubs in the area do very nice meals so that’s good news."

"The positioning of the property could not be better, and the views from the front perfect; sea, sky and Blackpool Tower. The property used to be a hotel, but presumably was too run down to continue. Although sleeping 24 and only 12 of us staying there was insufficient drinking glasses and mugs. (although more glasses were supplied) The washing machine and drier were not in the kitchen as stated but when we questioned their whereabouts we were shown to them in the 'garage'. We had opened the door to the garage but as the previous weeks rubbish bags were in there it smelt very unpleasant. Although we were told the rubbish collection was on the Tuesday the bags did not disappear and we added to them. The kitchen bin was also just a bucket with a bin bag in it. Many of the dining chairs were broken, as were the wardrobe drawers. Many light bulbs were were missing or dead. There was also a 'polystyrene' ceiling tile missing just inside the front entrance; by the end of the week there was quite a mound of cement rubble and sand laying on the carpet, as well as it being a drafty spot. We did report to the caretaker that the property physically shakes, causing doors to rattle and beds, chairs and toilets to move underneath you, which was very disconcerting and frightening and needs seriously looking into."

"We enjoyed our stay at Coastguard Cottage. It is a homely well equipped holiday let. There are a few amenities right on the doorstep including beach, mini golf, swimming pool, pub and shops. It is also close to the team for access to Blackpool, Cleveleys etc. Hence it's a good base.We were impressed by the facilities innthe kitchen. Everything you need plus dishwasher and washing machine ( although no dryer or washing line).. Also teabags, dishcloth, tea towel etc which were nice unexpected touches. Kitchen was in pretty good condition as was living room and bathroom. The general let down was the state or the decor notably upstairs. It is in need repainting as a number of walls were somewhat grubby to say the least. It appears that work has been done in some rooms but not throughout. The cottage was fairly clean but could do with a thorough once over occasionally ( count the cobwebs!)On the comfort front the mattresses on the double bed and single beds were most uncomfortable hence my marking down score of 6. Not sure what was wrong with vthe double but parts of it stuck in you. Could definetely benefit from a new one. Overall pretty good but needs a few quid spent updating the concerns mentioned."

"The fridge wasn’t cold and no light in it. The owner did come round to look at it and turned the dial down more but it still didn’t cool properly. The kitchen was dirty. Found a half eaten biscuit in a pan. The first coffee cup we took out was dirty and hadn’t been washed. A pan still had food on the side of it. The surfaces all needed a good clean along with the oven hob, cupboards, utensils etc. And the pube in the bath wasn’t needed!! The shower drain needs sorting out too as wasn’t draining. Loads I could go on about and was a bit disappointed as I find poor kitchen hygiene disgusting. The light in the back bedroom vanity mirror didnt work. The bed in the front bedroom the slats kept falling off. Coffee stains on the skirting boards at top of steps. On a plus point the bedding and towels were lovely and clean and laundered well. Property was a good size. And a real shame it doesn’t reach its potential. Overall disappointed with the stay due to cleanliness. Value for money not there. Have got photos of most things mentioned here."

"Hi, my wife and 2 kids ,(one is 20 and our daughter is 16) stayed here for a week along with the mother/father in law..We all had a lovely time and would recommend it as a place to stay. Great location and we enjoyed being up close to the farm animals . The owners have Spaniels who give you a great welcome each day...Owners keep their distance but are on hand if you need any help or advice.. We ended up buying a Labrador Puppy from one of their old family friends on our way home... Very friendly people and a great house in equally great surroundings....Very much recommend this as a holiday destination away from the usual holiday rumpus....Also caught some great Flounders when fishing at Knotts End , just be careful of the tides which tend to be 3 times as high as we get on the south coast..."
