What our customers say about their holidays

    • Damian - Verified booking

      The house is fine, however.

.. We had to make some space in Cupboards for our food, we also moved some China cups out of reach of our children. When we left we received a message from the owner saying things were missing, we rang her straight up and explained they had been moved and are in a different cupboard, she had a very accusatory tone to my wife insinuating we had stolen the items. This upset my wife. A few days later we had a text saying the items had been found in another cupboard. A real shame to our stay - on this basis I cannot recommend the cottage - you may be accused of stealing cake tins. (My advice to the owner would be if such items are so close to your heart please replace things with items less valuable, and please accept that things may get moved, but insinuating theft is poor)

We enjoyed our stay at Southbank which has been extensively renovated and imaginatively decorated.

With reference to previous comments about the driveway entrance, the best approach is to turn right into it so that you can line up straight and slowly pull in. The house was spotlessly clean and the location extremely convenient for local shops, the Indian takeaway (very good), a local pub and the bus routes into central Bath. If the kitchen fitments had been able to include a bigger fridge (in one of the tall cupboards) and a dishwasher (5 adults and two small people created a lot of washing up!), that would have been even better. Melissa was quick to respond to a problem we encountered, which was reassuring. Thank you Melissa for bringing this old property back to life.

A lovely cottage, very comfortable with excellent supplies of all you need (such as washing up liquid, kitchen towel etc) including the very welcoming tea and cake!

Superb supply of books, no need to bring your own, dvds etc. The information provided was very good, especially interesting to read of the history of the cottage and the village. The garden is a suntrap, we even managed to sit out one day! Parking great. The location is convenient for Bath and surrounding towns and Timsbury has a lovely Coop with such friendly and helpful staff, just literally up a path and round the corner from Crooked Well. We can recommend the fish and chips, also very close and the pub. Our thanks to Mrs Mudge for her welcoming phone call about arriving early, it gave us an extra afternoon in Bath. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

We had a great week in Crooked Well cottage.

It was very clean and had everything we could have needed for our stay, and more. You could tell it had been a much loved family home. The fruit cake was most welcome and delicious. Timsbury is a lovely village and well positioned for the many places of interest we visited, such as Bath, Bristol, Cheddar, Wells to name but a few. We also had a nice walk alongside the Chew Valley lake. The couple of meals we had in the Seven Stars pub which were very good and reasonably priced. Unfortunately we couldn’t sample the fish and chips from the chippy as it was closed for the week. All in all though a brilliant week in Crooked Well, helped by having sunshine every day.

A superbly equiped, clean, comfortable cottage in a quiet location.

A welcome tray was greatfully received especially the delicious fruitcake. The brief visit from the owner, was lovely and gave us interesting background information about the cottage, the well and its history. It was nice to know the owners family were nearby, should we need them. The local fish and chip shop was superb, with the best cod and chips we've ever had! We had some good days out exploring Bath, Bristol, Wells and surrounding areas. Had the weather been better it would have been nice to make use of the garden of an evening. We thoroughly enjoyed the cosy comfort of the cottage and can happily recommend it to others.
