What our customers say about their holidays

    • Alison - Verified booking

On arrival the parking space was not obvious at all, ie no lines painted etc.

We knocked on door of unhappy neighbour to see where it was. The neighbour had parked his van badly so after a 7 hour drive it was very tricky to park. Especially as he had an extra vehicle parked right next to the stairs down to the appt. Then the outside light didn’t come on to guide us down to the front door of the appt. It was raining and slippy and fairly steep with a handrail so we had to use our phone torches. Stress factor 10. Once inside it is a really stylish apartment immaculately presented and everything was very comfortable. However there was no welcome pack information folder so as it was freezing cold it was hard to work out how to change the heating system initially. More stress. Apartment was equipped with bathroom toiletries, tea coffee sugar etc and a bin liner and kitchen roll and 2 tea towels but that was it! So no salt and pepper, no milk in the fridge, no washing up brush or sponge scourer, no dishwasher tablet and no fairy liquid. Tesco’s isn’t far away but had it been closed.. also mirror light in bathroom not working. nightmare. Recommendations.. welcome pack, tidy up steps down to look more welcoming, check lighting, masonry paint view from lounge dining area outside as unloved and ugly, not befitting the lovely interior of the appt. Great proximity to centre, stylish apartment but hated parking situation having to knock on neighbours doors.

The property is spotlessly clean, tidy, comfortable and very close to the city centre.

However, I don't feel that the description regarding the parking situation is correct. It stated that the middle parking space is for the ground floor flat, and yes, also that it is first come first served. In fact, one of the flats had two vehicles parked and one of the vehicles was continuously using the middle space. When we enquired with the person who owned the vehicle, we were told that we shouldn't be parking there anyway. It would be much more accurate simply to state that you need to make alternate arrangements, rather than arriving with an expectation of being able to park outside the flat. Also, there is very limited space alongside each side of the double bed in the smaller bedroom and the right hand side has a radiator on the wall as well which makes it awkward to get into the bed. It wouldn't be suitable for a person with mobility issues but the single beds in the bigger room are more accessible.

      Lovely, clean and comfortable place.

Easy to find, all instructions given were clear and concise and most importantly, lovely garden for the dogs. Only slight issue was lack of washing machine but we were well aware that there was not one due to excellent description of property facilities. Understandably lack of space may mean there cannot be a washing machine but that may be the only impediment to booking a longer (ie. more than a week) stay. Very minor issue was lack of live TV but managed to get channel 4 so not a big deal and also personal preference as plenty of other TV to watch. Overall, an absolute gem of a property and our only regret was to forget to write in the guest book to memorialise our praise in our own handwriting for posterity! Many thanks, Jan and family

      Very nice recently refurbished apartment.

The welcome pack was a lovely touch. It was a shame that the communal entrance to the building was unwelcoming with creaking stairs all the way up and in the apartment. The lower bathroom had no shower curtain so we could not use the handheld shower over the bath without flooding and damaging the bathroom. All 5 adults and 1 child ended up using the upper floor bathroom shower. The lock in this bathroom did not work. The trundle bed was more suitable for children than adults. On bin collection day (Wednesday) we had to put the wheely bins and recycling box onto the pavement by 7 am and then take them back after they were emptied. (Even then the recycling box was not completely emptied - only our stuff which were in bags were taken).

‘Sally’ was one of the best little rentals we’ve ever had.

We were visiting family in Whitstable and the apartment was so well equipped, it had everything you could need. Even down to blackout blinds behind the curtains. The towels were lovely and soft, everything felt very new and fresh. Cleanliness was incredible. If I really had to think up any feedback it would be, would have preferred white bedding. Just gives a cleaner feel - but I’m being extremely picky as the bed and bedding was so comfy. I’m not sure why others have feedback about the parking - we stayed in August and parked easily every day. Sometimes it was a couple of minutes down the road but was no fuss as we were on our holidays!! We’ll absolutely be back!!

    Leeds Castle
Set within 500 acres of stunning parkland, Leeds Castle is famously one of Kent’s most beautiful country estates and offers a wide range of attractions including hot air balloon trips, arts and crafts shops, a maze, an Aviary, a golf course, fine cafes and restaurants and acres of beautiful grounds and gardens.
    Dover Castle
A medieval castle founded in the 11th century making it England's longest serving fortress. It is located on the iconic white cliffs and houses 80 acres of grounds for you and your canine friend to explore.

    Tonbridge Castle

Tonbridge Castle is reputedly England’s finest example of a Motte and Bailey Castle. Boasting a splendid 13th Century Gatehouse, it is also surrounded by acres of beautiful grounds. An audio tour brings to life the rich history. Today the castle hosts open-air cinema and theatre nights during the summer.

    Upnor Castle

This attractive turreted castle is set in the picturesque village of Upnor within an area backed by rolling, wooded hills. The fort was intended to protect both the dockyard and ships of the Royal Navy anchored in the Chatham Dockyard which is a short distance downriver. It entirely failed at this task in 1667, when the Dutch sailed past it to burn or capture the English fleet at anchor.

    Rochester Castle

Strategically placed astride the London Road, guarding an important crossing of the River Medway, this imposing fortress has a complex history of destruction and rebuilding. Today it stands as a proud reminder of the history of Rochester along with the cathedral and cobbled streets.

    Stoneacre (National Trust)

Stoneacre is a Grade II* listed National Trust property in Otham, near Maidstone. It is a half-timbered yeoman farmer's house and garden dating from the 15th century, together with a small garden, orchard and meadows. Arts and Crafts scholar Aymer Vallance saved this mediaeval yeoman's house from destruction in 1920, and restored it into the charming house that it is today. Toilets and picnic benches.

    Hever Castle & Gardens

Hever Castle began as a country house built in the 13th century and was home to the Boleyn family from 1462 - 1539 including Anne Boleyn, the second queen consort of King Henry VIII. The castle fell into disrepair in the early 1900s. Much of what you see is the result of the efforts of William Waldorf Astor, who used his fortune to restore and extend the Castle in the early 20th century.
