What our customers say about their holidays

    • Judith - Verified booking

Hill of Tarvit is perfect for a short break.

I go every year,to meet up with old friends and have a peaceful few days. The flat as usual was perfect, and the property manager couldn't have been more helpful. I had a bit of an issue one night with the central heating (it was very cold in April!) But within hours of me letting them know about it it was fixed. The only small improvement would be if one of the parking spaces in the courtyard could be earmarked and labelled for the Upper West wing flat. I came back one afternoon to find the courtyard parking spaces all being used. There was the van which was permanently there and a couple of cars. If I had parked I would have had to have moved my car to let other people out. Apparently the spaces were being used by visitors to the flat downstairs. I think people not actually staying should be encouraged to park in the large car park, I have rheumatoid arthritis and can't walk far so I choose to stay somewhere with parking at the door. One of the visitors did very politely move his car to let me in, but then parked behind me so if I had wanted to go out again I would have had to have found him and asked him to move. I'm sure a sign indicating that one of the spaces is for the holiday flat would avoid confusion.

We have just had a week at Seascape and it was a fantastic place to base our break in the area.

Despite initial concerns from other feedback it was very easy to find. There is a good parking space outside. The views across the Forth from the property are stunning. We certainly lucked out with the weather last week and were able to sit out on a few evenings after arriving back from our days out. The adjacent pub is quiet and worth visiting for a decent meal. You can hear the trains go by but soon get used to it. The nearby station has direct trains to Edinburgh (via the Forth Bridge), Dundee (via the Tay Bridge) and Perth as well as other local destinations so no need to use the car all the time. Inside, the property is clean and well equipped. The kitchen is modern with a cooker, microwave and dishwasher. The sofa and chairs are comfy and there is a smart TV with Netflix etc.. There is a washing machine in the 2nd bedroom which I guess was the only available space for it. The bathroom has a very good hot shower. The heating was fine when the evenings got cold. All in all a great place to stay in a nice village and would highly recommend it.

PERFECT I have just returned from a fortnight at Shore View (although I had booked the property for a fortnight to get some work done I intend to return at some point this year for a holiday).

The cottage was modern, warm, clean and very comfortable. The wi-fi connection was solid (I worked from here, including zoom meetings, all with no problems). What is brilliant about the cottage (apart from the obvious sea views) is how near EVERYTHING is, my car was hardly used the two weeks I was there. The beach is a short stroll down the street, the train station is across the road (45 minute direct train into centre of Edinburgh if you want to throw in a city break to your beach holiday) there is a restaurant and a pub (with outdoor seating area looking out to the sea) right next door (so no worrying who can't drink and has to do the driving) – have a meal, a drink watch the footie then just cross the path and your home. There is a corner shop at the other side of the cottages and a few yards further down the street a well stocked co-op shop. The cottage sits just behind the Fife Coastal Path, which is a well marked and busy path, that goes for miles along the coast. It really is a perfect little holiday spot!

      What an exceptional cottage!

We were blown away by both the property and the location, stunning view from the lounge window. Everything you could need for a stay in a cottage is provided. Paul, the owner was there when we arrived, really nice guy who is at the end of the phone if you need to know anything. Harbour view bar close by but not a sound could be heard, even during the Bank Holiday. Great Chinese take away two minutes walk. Train Station five minutes walk with trains to Edinburgh or Dundee, we went to Edinburgh had a great walk round, lovely lunch, shopping for the ladies and a nice beer with lunch with no concern about driving, the view going over the Forth Rail Bridge is stunning. Great road links take you to many interesting locations in Fife, we needed more than the week, so we will definitely be back at Seascape, one of Sykes’ best properties we have stayed in, oh, thanks for the Prosecco and chocs Paul

Generally very satisfied - as I was during my initial visit in June.

I was a little disappointed to see that the minor crack in the bathtub - which I highlighted in June - had not been addressed. The only other points I would make are with regards to the external stairway to the apartment: Whilst the metal open grid stairway is clearly shown in the online photos it is perhaps worth mentioning, or even stressing, in the description just how ‘open’ the stairs are and the ‘exposed’ feeling which anyone with a fear of heights or vertigo may experience. At the time of my visit in early December the weather conditions were snowy and icy and, although sand / grit / salt had been spread on the stairway, it still remained a potential slip hazard. Fortunately I had no incidents. However it may be worth considering giving guests access to the apartment through the main mansion particularly during snowy or icy weather.
