"My partner and I stayed for a long weekend in November 2013 and we both have nothing but amazing things to say about our stay!! Firstly, the Tower itself is simply divine! So quaint, gorgeous, traditional and welcoming. The log fire is beautiful and the bathroom and 4 poster bed is immense! Everything you could think of was provided - from milk and tea, to a hairdryer, towels, candles and logs for the fire! The owner, Gaynor James and her husband were so welcoming and we even had a bottle of bubbly and breakfast treats laid out for us on arrival! There are loads to do nearby - climbing Mount Skirrid, shops and local markets and of course the gorgeous scenic landscape for romantic walks and picnics. The Walnut Tree, a Michelin star restaurant is a short drive away and we had a delicious meal here and the Skirrid Inn Pub opposite the Tower is great for pre drinks in a haunted venue. All in all we could not recommend this place highly enough - please do visit - you won't be disappointed."

"We were a family of 8 adults and 2 small dogs that enjoyed an excellent week in Waldeck over Christmas. Waldeck has a really nice feel to it and was a real "home from home" for the family and was even decorated with a tree and xmas lights. The whole house was very well equipped with anything and everything that you are ever likely to need for a large family gathering. The property was very clean throughout and there was plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. The gardens were very kept very tidy. Well located for dog walking in the nearby Delamere Forest, for shopping in Chester, and the Goshawk pub only 250 yds away was very good. There is an excellent A to Z supplied by the owner which tells you everything about the property and the surrounding area. Would thoroughly recommend Waldeck to any family planning to visit the area and hopefully we will return again in the future."

"We had a lovely family holiday in this wonderful house. The location is perfect very close to the train, the pub and dalamere forest on the doorstep with Chester just a few miles away. A beautiful location, lovely gardens and well equipped house. The rooms are huge and although there were 7 of us there was plenty of room. It really is a home from home. The owners are extremely helpful and genuinely can’t do enough for you. I would love to come back and do more, 3 nights isn’t enough to explore all the things around. I’d highly recommend this house and location, we thoroughly enjoyed it and all commented how lovely everything was. Thank you so much for making us welcome and hope to visit again soon."

"The only concerm would be that re-booking again will be very difficult! I did have a problem connecting my 'Windows 10' laptop to the WiFi but I suspect that that was because of the laptop's attempts to download large Windows Updates (anniversary edition of 'Windows 10') - having got back and looked up the problem, I would like to advise other guests with Windows 10 laptops to configure the WiFi connection as a "METERED Connection", which will prevent automatic downloading of updates (earlier versions of Windows allowed users to explicitly disable automatic downloads of Windows Updates, Windows 10 does not) and avoid overloading the rural broadband Internet connection."

"''Perfect Stay” I can only echo the comments of the previous reviewer. This is a fantastic place to stay, with all you could need for a holiday break. We took advantage of the warm weather to sip drinks in the garden and even breakfast al fresco. As there were no guests arriving on our leaving day, the owners kindly let us stay beyond the standard departure time too. The Tower is an ideal base for walking without needing the car to drive out - Skirrid, Sugar Loaf, Waun Fach, Offas Dyke to Hay-on-Wye, Llanthony Priory, White Castle - all in reach subject to ambition & capability! The Skirrid Inn on the doorstep is also excellent for character, service, beer & food. "
