"Having arrived on Saturday we found no welcome pack, no soap in ether bathroom or kitchen sink, a very small TV which you could not read the writing from the sofa or two chairs. The internet was intermittent, both rotary washing lines need replacing as the lines are all hung down. The sofa and chairs were a joke, we both came home with stiff backs, you can feel the cushions going down at one side and feel the springs almost coming through the faux-leather seats. We thought the place was a bit grubby and had to wash some cups, plates and frying pans before use.The walls are very thin could hear everything from people next door, the kitchen table rocks when you put any hands or elbows down.Shortly after arriving we were asked by the farmer John for £20 cash for heating, having been advised by him that “it’s in the info online”. Upon checking, he was a month early; additional fees didn’t kick in until November. My husband is in remission and we thought a little holiday would do both of us some good, however, from 8am/8pm all we could hear every day was a petrol chainsaw until the day we left, it was just over the fence from where we were sat out. My husband was not so good some days and went to bed but was still unable to rest because of all the noise, we knew it was a farm and thought it would be cows or sheep not the constant noise of a chainsaw. My husband and I don’t normally write such critical things but it was not a cheap week; it was October and almost £450, having said all this the dogs liked the garden which was fully enclosed so did not worry about them getting out. We met the farmer’s daughter who was very nice and helpful. We would not be returning much to the farmers relief I’m sure. The shop is 4 miles away so nothing to do or see, the pubs in the area do very nice meals so that’s good news."

"We were made very welcome on arrival! Our hosts had left a delicious home-made cake- a lovely gesture! The house, despite having high ceilings was incredibly warm and comfortable! We were lucky with the weather and thoroughly enjoyed the Hot tub which was just outside the lounge! The upstairs bedroom was vast but the height of the 6ft bed ( which was extremely comfortable) was undoubtedly a challenge as we're all approaching 70! Difficult to negotiate for trips to the loo in the dark! All the beds were very clean and so comfortable! The showers were excellent however the huge bath also presented a challenge for us! Again an age thing! It would be fantastic if we had been a little younger and more flexible! The games room was super and would be perfect for families. We enjoyed an evening bbq during our stay. I have to say the bbq itself needed a massive amount of cleaning before we could use it and we left it on a much better state than when we found it!Despite the challenges met, we enjoyed our stay here very much and it was excellent value for money with lovely hosts."

"Hi we have had a lovely stay at kirkstone. It was like home from home. The welcome pack was full of great information and was fun and interactive for the kids. The treasure hunt was a lovely thought. The cottage is located in a quiet area of Blackpool but close enough not to have to use your car daily. We had 3 adults 2 children and two dogs on our stay. Their was plenty of room and a lovely enclosed garden for the dogs. Theirs just a 5 min walk to the beach which was perfect to exercise our dog's on.Kitchen is a great size and we manage to cook various of different meals with the equipment available. I would highly recommended Kirkstone. We will be returning as it was a lovely cottage that had everything we needed and good communication with the Owner."

"We had a wonderful time staying at Kirkstone. There was myself, my parents, my 2 sons and my dog and there was plenty of room and we all slept well. The garden was great for my dog and he even found a tennis ball so we had 1 evening where we played fetch. The kids loved their bunk beds and we made full use of the games and jigsaws when rain kept us in 1 day. There was a shop just a 5 minute walk away and we found that the bar in the nearby Norbreck Castle was welcoming as well. Kirkstone provided everything we needed and we will definately be staying there again"

"We enjoyed our holiday at Kirkstone which is clean, spacious and comfortable accommodation. The location is ideal being in a quiet area but near enough to a tram stop to experience tourist attractions in the area. The two children in our party loved the garden and the games and toys in the house. The accommodation is dog friendly too. We hope to return as there are a number of tourist attractions we didn't get round to visiting. The property would be improved by the installation of exterior lighting at both the front and rear"
