"The positioning of the property could not be better, and the views from the front perfect; sea, sky and Blackpool Tower. The property used to be a hotel, but presumably was too run down to continue. Although sleeping 24 and only 12 of us staying there was insufficient drinking glasses and mugs. (although more glasses were supplied) The washing machine and drier were not in the kitchen as stated but when we questioned their whereabouts we were shown to them in the 'garage'. We had opened the door to the garage but as the previous weeks rubbish bags were in there it smelt very unpleasant. Although we were told the rubbish collection was on the Tuesday the bags did not disappear and we added to them. The kitchen bin was also just a bucket with a bin bag in it. Many of the dining chairs were broken, as were the wardrobe drawers. Many light bulbs were were missing or dead. There was also a 'polystyrene' ceiling tile missing just inside the front entrance; by the end of the week there was quite a mound of cement rubble and sand laying on the carpet, as well as it being a drafty spot. We did report to the caretaker that the property physically shakes, causing doors to rattle and beds, chairs and toilets to move underneath you, which was very disconcerting and frightening and needs seriously looking into."

"We stayed for 4 days with a toddler and had a very relaxing time. The garden was fantastic for running around in and there is a footpath from the carpark to the river with lots of wildlife to see. Supermarkets are a short drive to Garstang, we stocked up at Aldi and Booths. We visited Sealife in Blackpool and went to Blackpool Zoo, both amazing and not too far to drive. We also went to a small kids farm north of Garstang called Old Hollies Farm which had an indoor play area for kids and two places to eat. There is a local pub, but we didn't try it. The house itself is gorgeous and very comfortable, very decent shower with plenty of power, good wifi, instant heating, good TV, good sofa, well equipped kitchen. We brought our own mattress for the travelcot, which you will need if bringing a baby/toddler. You do notice the odd lorry drive past at night which I saw someone comment on in a previous review, but it really didn't bother us and didn't wake the little one. We plan on coming back at some point in the future as the holiday ticked all our boxes and we had the best time."

"The fridge wasn’t cold and no light in it. The owner did come round to look at it and turned the dial down more but it still didn’t cool properly. The kitchen was dirty. Found a half eaten biscuit in a pan. The first coffee cup we took out was dirty and hadn’t been washed. A pan still had food on the side of it. The surfaces all needed a good clean along with the oven hob, cupboards, utensils etc. And the pube in the bath wasn’t needed!! The shower drain needs sorting out too as wasn’t draining. Loads I could go on about and was a bit disappointed as I find poor kitchen hygiene disgusting. The light in the back bedroom vanity mirror didnt work. The bed in the front bedroom the slats kept falling off. Coffee stains on the skirting boards at top of steps. On a plus point the bedding and towels were lovely and clean and laundered well. Property was a good size. And a real shame it doesn’t reach its potential. Overall disappointed with the stay due to cleanliness. Value for money not there. Have got photos of most things mentioned here."

"The house itself is beautiful, there is ample parking and it is situated very close to Stanley Park, however it is across the road from a hospital and there were regular sirens all day. The house was unclean when we arrived and the cupboards, fridge and freezer were half full of out of date food, some as old as 2010. Emptying these filled 2 bin liners. We also had to go out and buy bulbs as some rooms had no useable lights, one lamp had a smashed bulb inside it and looked dangerous. We cleaned the house ourselves before unpacking on the Friday evening, as we could not live in it as it was. The cleaners turned up on the Tuesday but by then it was too late. We contacted the owners and made them aware of the situation and have received no reply, no apology and no refund for the part of our payment that, we presume, paid for the cleaning of the house. Stanley Park and Blackpool as a whole were run down and a bit of a disappointment. Not the relaxing holiday we had hoped for and we will not be returning."

"The location was fabulous. However that is the only positive thing I have to say about our holiday. The house was disgusting! Dirt, dust, other peoples mess left behind. We found mouldy cake behind the drawers. Hair balls in the hallway. The owner didnt seem bothered about our complaints, and he made no attempt to help us out when we asked for new bedding, a vacuum cleaner or for him to send his “cleaning team” back to do another clean. He ignored my calls and stopped responding to my text messages. We had 4 kids with us aged between 1 and 5. Which made the dirt more of an issue as the youngest was crawling and we couldnt even hoover the floor. Overall very disappointed with the owner and cleanliness of this property. We spent almost 2 hours cleaning he house before we could allow the kids to play in the house."
