"The cottage owners were lovely and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is situated up a short track (a couple of hundred yards from the end of the street) and has its own gated entrance and parking space at the back of the property. The views of the hills (Campsies?) from the back of the cottage are beautiful. You enter the cottage through your own private entrance at the back so you don't disturb the owners. The gardens are beautiful and well manicured. We saw rabbits, pheasants and lots of lovely birds on the bird feeders (binoculars were provided too!). Inside the cottage, the décor and facilities are excellent. Everything you can think of is provided from a coffee machine and coffee pods to plenty of towels and toilet rolls. The cottage is very comfortable and warm (you can control the heating yourself using a hive heating control). The décor is excellent and it is well furnished with quality furniture and bedding. The local facilities in Balfron are ok, there is a small Co-op, Post Office, pub, bakers, doctors and petrol station. We had arranged a Tesco delivery to the cottage so only used the Co-op a couple of times. We found the cottage to be very handy for what we wanted to visit. Stirling was only 20 miles away, Drymen 8 miles and Glasgow about 20 miles. Loch Lomond and the Trossachs are within 20-30 minutes drive. We would definitely stay here again and can honestly say we think it is one of the best, if not the best, cottage we have stayed in."

"Certain things around the cottage need looking at as they appear tired. Plug-holes in bathroom broken, bathroom bin lid broken off, seal and tiles around bath need renewing, smoke alarm missing upstairs, freezer compartment in fridge broken and kettle switch is broken and you have to fiddle with it to get it to work. Cutlery is so blunt it wouldn't even cut bacon so we had to buy our own knives! Owners dogs barked often and due to acoustics of building it reverberates throughout the cottage. The door handle and lock is loose and there's a knack to unlocking and locking it. The door between the owners cottage and holiday cottage is unlocked all week too. One blind in the living room is broken and won't work. The track to the cottage is full of pot-holes, which is ok if you drive slowly but one night one of the neighbours drove right up our backside and we ended up doing 25mph down a track that really isn't suitable for that speed. Saw owners son when first arrived, he seemed polite, and saw Derek once. The cottage itself is in a lovely spot; quiet and picturesque and due to underfloor heating is warm. I, personally, didn't feel the cottage was worth the money due to the negative points as listed above."

"This cottage is situated in central Scotland so is fantastic for your visits to, Stirling, Edinburgh, Perth and the trossachs to name but a few places. You are also very near to the lochs where you can sail aboard the refitted Sir Walter Scott steamship on the gorgeous Loch Kathrine and enjoy seeing the mountains and wildlife in comfort. You could also look for Nessie in Loch Ness - be one of the first to photograph him! One thing is sure, you will always find a warm welcome from the owners of the Bothy and the local people. Try the local pub for great meals and dog friendly to boot. The cottage is quite special set on a working farm but not at all noisy, the enclosed garden was fantastic for our dog and sunbathing. It really is a home from home except they have a much bigger bathroom than we do! It was great and we will be back, we have also told all our friends about it. Thanks again for a great week and hope your dog is brining back the ball to you now. May 2012."

"We booked Juniper Cottage as a base to attend a wedding in Leith and to enjoy a week's break. The cottage was lovely and Derek was very welcoming. As well as going to Leith we visited the V&A in Dundee and St Andrew's; the town of Dunblane, where we enjoyed 2 excellent meals at the Riverside and a lovely walk; Doune Castle and village and the Distillery at Deanston; Callender and the Bracklinn Falls; Creith, which was a bit disappointing, and Killin with the amazing falls of Dochart. There is so much to do and see within a short journey of the cottage.Very slight negatives are the very bumpy half mile track from the main road to the cottage and the staircase in the cottage which has only 12 steps which are bit uneven in height."

"Stunning views from the bedroom windows of local mountains especially on the clear days were breathtaking. A very comfortable, spacious peaceful cottage in which to relax. Well tendered garden to look out on with numerous birds to view. There was plenty to do within the surrounding area, so didn't have to travel far on days out. Last Runrig concert brilliant with the backdrop of Stirling Castle, but sad at the same time. The real reason we were stopping here, everything else was a bonus. Drive track was bumpy and long but nothing compared to the one we negotiated in Wales. Would definitely recommend."
