"The best feature of this house is it being completely detached and private with glorious views of the distant Snowdonia mountains. The large wood-burning fireplace dominates the living room, not a pleasant feature really, unless lit. The weather did warrant it at times, but the supplied lighter needed batteries and with just 3 logs, not really enough to bother with. The background heating was welcome for the mornings, with the use of an additional portable radiator. The window in the bathroom was impossible to close and let in a lot of cold air which had to be combated with having the fan-heater on quite a bit. We are not ones to watch TV very much, but saw no point in having a large flat-screen TV when there's no signal and no advice given about it in the guests' folder. Had someone called initially it could have perhaps been explained, but with a broken Sky changer and 2 others relevant to the make of TV, we considered it would have been better not to provide a TV set. Why have it listed in the cottage details? To be marooned indoors in inclement weather is a little miserable with the rather strange design of fairly elderly upholstered chairs, all (including the sofa) with no head-support.The cooking facility is good, with excellent-quality saucepans necessary for the ceramic hob and thankfully a spacious fridge-freezer. There is little space though in the kitchen area, the microwave having to be sited across the draining board. The separate work-bench for food preparation is a boon though. The outside space for children is good, and the weather-proof picnic table on the lawn, comfortable chairs are needed really though, as mentioned in a few visitors' comments as otherwise take the wooden chairs outside with a cushion- not ideal. The use of the Leisure Club was a real bonus, we all loved going nearly every day. We did have a walk each day, from the door and also one from a nearby village, also another in the Snowdon range."

"A big, comfortable and quirky house for a large party. Our initial impression was that it would be a perfect setting for a murder mystery weekend. The ensuite arrangements are only for the unembarrassed as they afford very little privacy. The decor was a little tired and dark. Some of the accessories like the old pram in the hall, a dusty doll collection and family photos in the sitting room were a bit weird. There was very little in the way of cleaning products which I had to buy. A new sponge and cleaning cloths for each new party should be a minimum. The sponge was filthy and would cost pence to replace. There was only an AGA to cook with and had we been planning to cook large family meals it may have been daunting. Toast was good though. Bed linen good, towels not so.Location on the outskirts of Betws y Coed was convenient and attractive despite being above a busy junction. My adult son used the sauna and jacuzzi at the nearby Waterloo Hotel but the pool was small and crowded with children. My other son made good use of the (slightly out of tune) piano to entertain us and also the football table. Most of the games were for kids (and incomplete); a couple of family games such as Articulate would have good.Having said the above, it was a memorable setting for a great family get together."

"Overall we had a good stay but a couple of things would prevent me from returning.- parking was a nightmare, advertised as no direct parking available, but 'parking out the front is usually available'- well not while we were there. Most of the cars jam packed in front of the apartment didn't move for the whole time we stayed there. - found it a bit hard to get the kids across the road to the Main Street, awquard with the cars parked on your door step- house was very noisy, both from internal noise and outside noise. No insulation or double glazed windows meant traffic noise could clearly be heard and it was noisy inside, sound really travelled- didn't realise when we booked that it was over 3 levels- no blackout blinds, ok if you are used to the sun coming up at 4am- tiny kitchen, literally cannot fit more than 1 person in at a time, but the dining room was good- beds were not very comfortable (in particular the kids bunk beds were shocking, I don't know how the kids slept)The area was quite nice, I would recommend staying in Bala but I'm sure there are probably a lot of better accommodation options available."

"The outside of the property was grubby with rubbish around the front door and side, the windows were dirty, the sofa was old, lumpy and very uncomfortable, cobwebs and dust everywhere. It smelt damp and musty, visable mould on walls and condensation running down the walls and windows. The windows appeared unsafe and made me fear for my children's safety. Some windows windows in the property were left unlocked which we were not aware of until the last day, which ment we left valuables in the property vulnerable to the Ives. All plates, cutlery and cups were dirty. The showers were in bad repair, held together with masking tape, the light in the bathroom was constantly on. Parking was a major issue. The washer drier didn't work well at all. There was rubbish from previous tenants, menus, bits of paper, McDonald's toys etc. Carpets were filthy. Chairs were broken with a note saying do not use. The water went off for the first few hours of us being there. The windows rattled in the wind made it very loud."

"It's position in a quiet area of Llanuwchllyn is second to none. The welcome given by Mr & Mrs Rowlands was an excellent start to our holiday. The Bothi was spotlessly clean, well-equipped and 'felt like home'. The scenery and ambience of the Bothi was a perfect example of peacefulness. We were quite upset when we left 'The Bothi @ Llanuwchllyn' at the end of our week's stay. We would highly recommend it. Ian & Jan (Swansea, South Wales)To be able to sit out side and watch all the different birds, listen to the bleating of the little lambs was really lovely. The cottage was really nice too, clean and comfortable with all you need. The couple who owned the Bothi were really lovely. They were very welcoming and friendly. My husband and i are both very happy to have stayed there.Very peaceful and secluded, no worries at any stage, ould not have asked for better."
