Mrs Mandy Williams - verified booking
"Bryn y Odr is a superbly presented property close to local amenities yet situated in a peaceful countryside location. The owners ensured every comfort was available and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. Furnishings were comfortable, especially the cosy bed and well equipped kitchen. There are many attractions nearby for all ages, you could never tire of visiting this area. The Corris craft centre and King Arthur’s Labyrinth is really worth a visit, as is the thrilling zip wire near Blaenau Ffestiniog. Coed y Brenin is a lovely activity centre where you can walk, hire bikes and go mental cycling round the monster or slightly tamer tracks as well as treetop adventures. Portmeiron is such an interesting place and a visit to Porthmadog to see the new steam train railway is essential. Walking can be toddler friendly or can stretch the fittest of us to the limit with heart racing climbs resulting in views to the edge of the world. Dolgellau has a great selection of restaurants, pubs abundant bistros BUT you will need to book in advance if hoping to eat there. We also recommend Cross Foxes for a super meal. Cader Cabs do a great local taxi service, very reasonable. Sunday lunch we recommend walk the Mawdach Trail from Dolgellau to the recently refurbished George III with a lovely view over the estuary. Again, booking is advised and don’t expect a quick meal but it is worth the wait. Precipice Walk near Dolgellau and Fisherman’s Walk near Beddlegert are both different and unusual walks with amazing views. Good walking shoes or boots recommended. Finally, Porthdinllaen (sorry about the spelling) with a walk around the headland at the Lleyn Peninsula, stopping to see the working lifeboat station, finally ending at the Ty Goch Inn on the beach, one of the secret beaches of Wales, for a well deserved beer is just beautiful. "The cottage was just what we wanted, a romantic hideaway for our wedding anniversary, very clean, everything we needed was there, they even found us an ice bucket for our bubbly! The owners were very friendly and helpful. The locals are friendly when you see them, which is not very often, which is nice if you want the privacy, which we did. Betws y Coed has the most fantastic places to eat, not cheap, but not over priced if you go to the right places. The owners and locals will recommend the best places, taxi service was great but make sure you get the local one from Betws Y Coed, they are great and very reasonable, there is only one firm based there. The other taxi firms are from further afield and charge extra for coming out to the village. All in all a fabulous weekend!!! The only quibble we had was the floorboards outside the bathroom were a bit flimsy and bouncy, but we just got used to stepping over them, and in the living area they have two very comfy chairs, we would have preferred a two seater sofa to snuggle up on, in front of the fabulous fireplace with log burner! Will definately stay again!!! Wonderful!!! Plenty of activities too with mountain bike trail just around the corner."

"Llannerch is a lovely little clean cottage. Open plan with log fire; a lttle dark perhaps - but that is the way these cottages are. It was cleaner than expected and fitted to very high standard. No chintz which we thought was great. The location is great with Betws-y-Coed only a 10 minute drive away. Walking was good directly from the Cottage into the woods to the west of Penmachno. Great mountain biking is to be had here, too. The main road through Penmachno is actually a cul-de-sac so there isn't much traffic through the village. Although quite a bit of what there is seems to go up past the Cottage to the riding stables some miles away. Unexpectedly Wifi was available via the pub's wireless router. The owner was very freindly and helpful and I would be glad to return."

"Mostly everything! The cottage is in a secluded space with views onto a tree house and the mountains - beautiful. There is a little stream next to the house, really relaxing to hear the water running when you wake up instead of a noisy city or cars passing by. Close to towns, easy to get anywhere around North Wales from there. Cooking was a pleasure, lots of space and more than decent selection of pots and pans. Morning visitors (sheep) come around often, you really feel the countryside. Conservatory has been improved, an absolute pleasure to have breakfast and dinners in there. Also has table and chairs outside if you go in Summer."

"This beautiful house was everything we hoped for. The pool table and table tennis table were an instant hit with the teenagers whilst the adults appreciated the enormous kitchen/dining room and the various sitting areas. The beds were really comfortable and everything was decorated to a high standard. Whilst off the beaten track (pitch black at night with amazing bats circling outside) we were in easy reach of beautiful beaches and lots of activities. The fact that we had sunshine all week was an added and unexpected bonus but even if had rained we would have enjoyed our holiday."
