Impress your other half with tasty dishes prepared in the kitchen/diner, ready to enjoy at the dining table for two as you toast to a wonderful getaway. On warmer days, why not fire up the barbecue and dine alfresco out on your very own private covered decking which overlooks the pool and surrounding countryside. After dinner, why not enjoy a dip in the owner’s heated swimming pool, or explore the communal grounds, where you will find two fire pits, one at the charmingly named Dragons Henge with quarry stones for seating, and a bridge crossing leading over to Crocodile Island, although you won’t find any near here, it makes for great fun for the little ones! Overton-on-Dee is ideally located for day trips to North Wales, Cheshire, and Shropshire, thanks to its proximity to the English border and pleasant surroundings. This picturesque village, perched on a cliff above the meandering River Dee, is home to some excellent examples of architecture from the 18th century as well as a handful of stores, a fantastic restaurant, and a classic watering hole. Nearby are the nine Meres of Ellesmere, formed during the glacial period and today offering chances for sailing, fishing, birdwatching, and leisurely strolls. Ellesmere boasts a number of tourist attractions, including the Norman-era St. Mary's Church, as well as a wide variety of restaurants, shops, and bars (including a yearly beer festival).
