Cross the threshold and head straight into the fully-equipped kitchen where you can cook up a storm for the whole family; dine in the open-plan living/dining room. Later, snuggle up with your loved ones in front of the Smart TV or venture outside to soak up the last of the sun in the front garden, which has a historic millstone, where you can enjoy a glass of wine. When the sky darkens, wash off the day in the ground-floor shower room before catching your rest in the double or small double bedroom on the first floor. Wrelton is a small pretty village just three miles from the historic market town of Pickering. Its stone-built cottages are clustered around two village greens where the annual summer fete is held every August. Although the village has no shops, it has an excellent pub which serves meals and is the hub of the village. Surrounded by the stunning countryside of the North York Moors, Wrelton offers great walking from the doorstep. Nearby are the market towns of Helmsley and Malton, and just three miles away are the steam railway and Pickering Castle. There is a wealth of places to visit from this great base including Castle Howard, the historic city of York with its famous Minster and the fishing port of Whitby on the east coast.

If you want any peace dont stay here! After an 8 hour journey I looked forward to a lay in. The owner was banging on the door at 8.30am .I had to get up and dressed and move my car as he had a lorry of stone delivered. He told me it was ok to park in next area. When I came out later next door ran at me aggressively for parking in her drive and started shouting... left a nasty note under my wiper. She said she was sick of him telling people to park in her drive. Day 2 he was outside at 8.30 shovelling stone. No sleep outside my bedroom window again. The shower flooded the bath and kitchen area. The stone floors were dirty and debris stuck to your feet. There was moldy bread in the bread bin. The worst day was our last day. We were bringing out cases and the owner was waiting at the end of the street at 9.15am with 2 old people very unpleasant intimidating. At one minute to ten he banged on the door and he and the two old people barged in past us. The old lady shouted out " oh they've left a load of milk." Knowing perfectly well I could hear as I was standing 2 feet from her. We were pushed out and I sat in my car watching the owner put our breakfast on the pillar for the bin whilst giving a dirty look. I was so shocked I didnt stick up for myself. Grass in front long and uncut. The owner is a nuisance and devoid of manners. I have stayed in many sykes cottages always been happy. I would never stay here again.

Then into the kitchen and utility room where the floor was dirty like it hadnât even been swept during cleaning. Also in the kitchen was kitchen equipment that had to be washed before we used it as it was so dirty. There was also one plate which made things difficult during the stay. Everything worked as it should just was not clean or tidy on arrival. Living area was great and the big table allowing us to sit with each other at meal times. One bedroom was great although the 2nd bedroom is too small and unsuitable for a double bed. Now we get to the worst part of our stay, from the first evening we arrived to the last there was a foul smell from the drains every time there was water running in the property. Whether that was the toilet, shower or sink the smell surrounded the house. The drain at the back of the house also was overflowing onto the back patio. We also found that the front garden area had not been maintained for a long time and could do with some work. Further to that it also looks like there is a lot of unfinished work around the immediate area of the property. I have stayed with Sykes many times in the past and donât feel like this property is up to the standard of your company name and is by far the worst property Iâve booked with you. I hope this feedback helps.

The cottage was easy to find and we parked up no bother. The immediate location is very peaceful but it is very near the A road and you can hear it if youâre sat outside. The beds were comfy, the shower was great and the kitchen was equipped adequately for what we needed. Loved the big room and all the knickknacks, lots of fun, great tv. It was ideal for a few days but the toilet being downstairs is a bit of a pain at night, esp on those stairs. Milk in the fridge, 1 was open and the other had a day in date left on it, bit odd.
