Tucked away on the outskirts of the pint-sized border town of Chirk, in the peaceful countryside, rests this remarkable three bedroom holiday home, Ceiriog House. Boasting a fabulous interior beautifully-presented with an effortless blend of contemporary and traditional and situated within easy reach of a host of sights and attractions, Ceiriog House offers an idyllic base for a rural family retreat. Make your way through the electric gates and park up on the spacious gravelled driveway nestled at the foot of this lovely dwelling before unloading your belongings and making your way inside to begin your staycation in your new home-from-home. Kick off your shoes as you enter into the hallway, stylishly decorated with eye-catching Victorian tiles, and follow through to the open-plan kitchen/diner, where you can find all the essentials for your stay such as an electric oven and hob alongside a grand dining table with seating for ten, perfect for gathering together to recount the days adventures of an evening. Stepping outside, you'll find two quirky wooden cabins, where the technology is operated via voice controls through Alexa; here you can look forward to settling down to catch up on your favourite show on the sumptuous sofa in the sitting room, or enjoy a movie marathon in the snug cinema room. During the summer months, why not fire up the barbecue and indulge in a spot of alfresco dining, making use of the external fridge/freezer to keep your fizz chilled before making a toast to an unforgettable holiday with your loved ones. End each day in style with a soak amongst the bubbles in the elegant hot tub, backed by the scenic views of the surrounding countryside, or if you'd prefer, work up a sweat with a seat in the sauna, sure to add a touch of luxury to your staycation. As the evening grows darker, retire indoors and climb the stairs to the first floor where you'll find three bedrooms, two super-king-size, each with their own en-suite and a TV, so you can watch all your favourite films from the comfort of the covers, alongside a twin bedroom, benefiting from access to it's own bathroom fit with an elegant roll-top bath and walk-in shower, giving guests the choice between an indulgent soak or a quick morning rinse. Wake-up from a leisurely slumber and venture outdoors to the inviting firepit area tucked away amongst the greenery to enjoy a moment of peace with a steaming cup of coffee before heading out for the day. A short walk from your doorstep will bring you to the border of England and Wales and into the heart of the town of Chirk, home to the medieval Chirk Castle, dating back to the 13th century; tour the marvellous interior or enjoy a leisurely stroll through the extensive manicured gardens, decorated in seasonal colours and rare shrubery and flowers. After working up an appetite, enjoy a delicious bite to eat and a crisp pint of ale at The Bridge Inn, with a remarkable view overlooking the overlooking the Chirk Aquaduct, or pick up a last-minute takeaway from the high-street to enjoy from the comfort of your holiday home. The tourist town of Llangollen is within easy reach, where you can immerse yourself in local history with a visit to Llangollen Museum, test your swing with a round of golf at the well-kept 18-hole golf course, or escape the excitement and spend the afternoon unwinding at The Wild Pheasant Hotel & Spa. Avid outdoor adventurers will be spoilt for choice with the plethora of walking, cycling and hiking trails scattered throughout the picturesque landscape of Snowdonia National Park; why not challenge yourself with a climb to the summit of Mount Snowdon, the tallest mountain in Wales, or embark on a two-wheeled adventure via the Ffordd Brailsford Way. Next stop is the tourist city of Chester, once occupied by the Romans and now home to the ruins of a Roman Amphitheatre, historic city walls and a cathedral dating back 1000 years. Get dressed to the nines and test your luck with a day out at Chester Racecourse, or come face-to-face with your favourite animals with a trip to Chester Zoo, rated the best in the UK. Whisk your loved ones away on a holiday that you'll remember for years to come with a stay at Ceiriog House.

Nestled on the escarpment where the river Ceiriog and Dee meet is the pint-sized border town of Chirk, known locally as Y Waun and referred to as The Gateway to Wales. Home to a remarkable 14th century castle and a towering aqueduct and decorated with a variety of restaurant, pubs and high-street and independent stores, Chirk offers all of the essentials to ensure an enjoyable staycation. Good central location, lots of nice walks round the countryside right on the doorstep and spacious enough for all nine of us. The accommodation was well furnished and the owners had thought of everything we were likely to need. The minor problems we had were sorted out quickly and without any fuss by Dave. This was a very important holiday for us and we all had a wonderful time.
