About this property

A lovely Grade II listed semi-detached cottage located in the village of Maentwrog, North Wales. This cottage offers an ideal base for exploring Snowdonia and the surrounding areas and is perfectly suited to a family, friends or a couple wishing to spend time together. Converted from an original coach house, Rectory Cottage looks great, with its slate hung 'cheeks' making a striking contrast to the cream render and stone, this an equally lovely interior, welcoming and styled with comfort in mind with homely touches and modern day comforts. The open plan living area is light and airy with good lighting and has two comfy sofas, perfect when all you want to do is relax and snuggle up watching your favourite film and a comfy dining area. The kitchen area is well-equipped and modern with plenty of fitted cupboards and appliances. Upstairs, two pretty bedrooms with comfortable beds will ensure a good nights sleep, both serviced by a modern bathroom. Wander outside to the enclosed courtyard and relax in the sun with your morning coffee whilst planning the day ahead. The surrounding area is fantastic for walkers, with Llyn Mair Nature Reserve and Tan y Bwlch only a few minutes’ away. After a busy day walking in the woods and mountains, you have the choice of two wonderful watering holes! The renowned Grapes Hotel, a 17th century coaching Inn, which is only a short stroll from the cottage and offers home-cooked food, good wines and cask conditioned ales or there is the Oakeley Arms, dating back to the 16th century, the grade two listed building is one of the most historic hotels in Wales. The whole area is a paradise for climbers, walkers and birdwatchers, as well as cyclists with the Coed y Brenin mountain bike trails only a ten minute drive away. The old slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog is only three miles away, here the popular attractions of Zip World and Bounce Below can be found, and of course, don’t leave out the famous Ffestiniog Steam Railway which will take you to Porthmadog. A little further afield, visit Porthmadog harbour and steam railway station, with numerous, quality shops, pubs and restaurants and miles of sandy beaches at Black Rock Sands, or explore medieval Harlech with its magnificent castle, splendid sand dune walks and links golf course. There is so much on offer to keep you busy in the Snowdonia National Park, you will just have to come back to fit it all in! Everything is within easy reach of this homely cottage which has something for everyone all year round.

Maentwrog is a village and community in the Welsh county of Gwynedd, lying in the Vale of Ffestiniog just below Blaenau Ffestiniog, within the Snowdonia National Park. The River Dwyryd runs alongside the village, on the periphery and adds to the picturesque environment. The village has its own highly regarded traditional inn, the Grapes Hotel, well known for its food and atmosphere and the Oakeley Arms is also nearby
