Our beautiful cottage Bryn Hyfryd is perfect for families and couples, with sensational views of the River Mawddach and direct access to the Mawddach Trail at the bottom of the garden.

Our luxuriously appointed but homely self-catering bungalow accommodates up to six people in three bedrooms and is spacious both indoors and outside. Cooking is a pleasure in our well appointed kitchen with quality appliances and our bathroom is pure luxury with separate rainfall shower and bath. When evenings are chilly stoke up the lovely log burner and curl up in comfort on the large sofa. We have a large, dry and secure bike store and a dedicated EV charger for our guests exclusive use.

Situated in Penmaenpool, just two miles from the lovely town of Dolgellau and 5 miles from the beautiful Cambrian coast and Barmouth. We are within easy reach of Cader Idris, Coed-y-Brenin, Harlech and beautiful beaches. Bryn Hyfryd is perfect for your family holiday in the Snowdonia National Park, whatever time of year!

Bryn Hyfryd is a lovely property in a spectacular location. The self-catering cottage is luxuriously appointed and offers one level, spacious living accommodation, sleeping up to six people in three bedrooms with everything you could want catered for. The cottage is just a few minutes walk from the famous Mawddach Trail that stretches between Barmouth and Dolgellau. It's perfect for active families who want to be in reach of footpaths, mountain bike trails and beaches, all against the beautiful backdrop of Cader Idris and just a few minutes walk of the George III pub. The views of mountains and estuary from the lounge, main bedroom and glass fronted decking are stunning and a great place to just sit and unwind, or dine Al Fresco.

Bring your bike when you stay at Bryn Hyfryd, its a cyclists heaven, and we have a secure dry store for our guests use, or there are excellent local businesses where you can hire a bike. The Mawddach trail is a cyclists must do and combined with a lunch in Dolgellau or Barmouth makes a great day out. Coed-y-Brenin has something for the whole family from purpose-built mountain bike trails to a cafe and an adventure play area.

If walking is more your pace, lace up your boots and head off on miles of footpaths that wind their way up hills right from the door, around the coast and through the unforgettable landscape of the Snowdonia National Park. There are walks for all abilities from the estuary hugging Mawddach Trail, which passes the house at the bottom of the garden, to majestic peaks like Cader Idris, and everything inbetween! Other ways to be active and have fun include stand-up paddleboarding (hire equipment in Barmouth) or swimming or surfing at beaches like Harlech, Tal y Bont, Aberdovey and Fairbourne, to name a few. There are also golf courses and pony trekking nearby.

Dolgellau is a few minutes drive or an easy bike ride from the cottage, with an excellent choice of places to eat and drink as well as a variety of independent shops and a regular market every Thursday. Barmouth, just 5 miles away has a range of traditional seaside attractions, and you can't miss seeing Harlech Castle, which is part of a unesco World Heritage Site.

Bryn Hyfryd's beautiful location and high standard of accommodation make it ideal for a holiday in any season. There are fantastic sights, breathtaking beauty spots, fascinating historical buildings and friendly towns and villages where you will find everything you need for a relaxed and enjoyable self-catering holiday.

Accommodation Comprises:

Bryn Hyfryd is a modern bungalow with an open-plan layout that suits modern families, and accommodation all on one level. Highlights include:

  • A living room with a log burner, wall-mounted TV with Freeview and Amazon Prime included, and a comfortable sofa where everyone can settle back and enjoy family film night. Glass French doors open onto the deck and garden and add to the sense of light and space.
  • Solid wood floors and a neutral colour scheme tie the living room, dining room and kitchen together. The dining table seats six people with a mix of chairs and bench seating and can also be used for doing puzzles or playing board games.
  • Modern appliances, fitted cupboards and ample workspace make the kitchen somewhere you'll want to cook.
  • Cloakroom with a sink, washing machine, and a WC with a handbasin.
  • Master bedroom with beautiful views over the Mawddach, a kingsize bed, and French doors that open onto a private deck.
  • Second bedroom with a double bed and leafy views of the forest and the opportunity to spot some of the many birds that thrive in this protected environment.
  • Bunk bedroom with forest views and full-sized single bunk beds.
  • Spacious family bathroom with a rainfall shower, separate bath, heated towel rail, WC and a handbasin.
  • Outside: You'll want to spend as much time as possible on the front deck, which spans the entire width of the house and has fantastic views. There is loads of space outside the front and in the rear of the house, with extensive areas of lawn, a few apple trees and a herb garden to which guests are welcome to help themselves. The off-street parking is big enough for two to three cars with a dedicated EV charger.

    Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, sheets and bath towels are all included, as is an initial basket of fuel for the log burner. The kitchen is stocked with essentials like dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. One well-behaved dog is welcome with prior agreement from the owner. Smoking is not permitted. Booster seat and travel cot with mattress provided (guests to bring bedding for the cot). It is possible to access the cottage by public transport for guests who don't have a car. A bus goes through Penmaenpool and stops at George III which is a few minutes walk away from the cottage - this links with the train at Morfa Mawddach.
