Harlech Castle, the most remarkable of all the strongholds Edward I built in North Wales, is located only three miles distant in the little town of Harlech, which is a World Heritage Site. The town of Harlech is known for the world-famous Royal St. David's golf course, but it also has a beautiful six-mile long sandy beach, great for leisurely strolls and family enjoyment. The nearby town of Barmouth is home to a number of exciting activities and attractions, including the breathtaking Panorama Walk along the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, which John Ruskin called "the most sublime view in Europe," and a harbour where you can take a ferry to Fairbourne and ride the miniature railway there or go on a boat trip out to sea to try your hand at mackerel fishing.
