About this property

A delightful 18th century terraced barn conversion offering comfortable, light and airy living accommodation. Full of character and with impressive views of the Snowdonia mountain range, Meifod is perfect for a relaxing holiday. This property adjoins Ref. 1519 Arfron and Ref. 1521 Bwthyn and together they can accommodate up to 9 people.

Betws-y-Coed is North Wales' most popular inland resort. A large portion of the village was built in Victorian times, situated where the River Conwy meets its three tributaries flowing from the west: the Llugwy, the Lledr and the Machno. Set in a beautiful valley in the Snowdonia Forest Park, Betws-Y-Coed is ideal for outdoor activity holidays. Numerous Craft and outdoor activity shops are in the village with the popular Swallow Falls nearby. The wonderful setting comprises dense woodland and magnificent mountains which play host to cascading waterfalls, hill-top lakes, river pools and ancient bridges. Ever since Victorian artists flocked to the area and formed the first artist colony it has been a Mecca for those that appreciate its unique natural beauty.

Betws-Y-Coed has numerous inns and there are a number of shops that specialise in outdoor clothes. At the railway station is a Museum with a miniature railway, shop and restaurant. The old 14th Century church of St Michael's is one of the oldest in Wales and attracts many visitors each year.

Very remote, which we wanted, with a couple of lovely special walks - to the Capel Garmon burial mound and to Conway Falls and its Cafe - right from the door.

Minor points to note; the door lacks an unlocking latch, so if you exit and close the door without a key , you get locked out. Disabling the lock allows the door to blow open. An electric kettle would have been a bit more handy. Also we had thought of bringing two electric cars, but north Wales is not well served with ev chargers. Having some sort of arrangement to allow slow charging off the cottage 13 A ring main (eg to the yard at the back of the cottage) would be advantageous (ev drivers can carry all necessary cabling with them - they only need to know how far it would be from 13A socket to the car. An honesty arrangement could be agreed on how much electricity is used to reimburse the cottage owners). Overall, a most enjoyable stay - and weather to match! Thank you.

Peaceful and relaxing. It was extremely clean and tidy. It had everything we needed. The owners were lovely and kind, welcomed us to the cottage and explained everything.
