There is much to see and do in the surrounding areas; Afan Argoed Forestry Park is excellent for mountain biking and has been rated in the top ten of the world for mountain bike rides. Zip World is only 10 minutes away. The stunning Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains offer breathtaking scenery and fabulous walking, and there are several waterfalls within a 15-minute walk. Margam Country Park is well worth a visit, with its castle, 18th-century orangery, narrow gauge railway, deer, Fairytale Land and Go Ape tree top adventure. Visit Dan yr Ogof Showcaves which also offer wedding ceremonies. Quad biking, archery and paintballing can all be found in the surrounding areas, along with fishing, golf and horse riding. Slightly further afield is the stunning Gower Peninsula, Britain’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with beautiful expanses of sandy beaches, hidden coves and coastal walks. St Albans Church is such a beautiful place to stay. The building itself is steeped in history and has a wonderful blend of original features and modern amenities.There's plenty of bathrooms for our family of 9 and everyone loves the jacuzzi bath in the master bedroom.There so much space which allows us all to come together, especially at meal times, but also enough space to allow everyone some privacy. The Church is always super clean on arrival with fresh bedding and towels for everyone, the downstairs wet room shower is great if you have a dog that loves to get muddy in the stream across the road.The local area is beautiful, everytime we stay we walk to the top of Pen-Pych mountain which the kids and dogs love, its even better when you make it to the top because you can see St Albans Church.Local take aways are a must, we love to get a Yummy Yummy Chinese and pizza from Mr. Pizza. A short drive to the local town is always worth it and the charity shops are must for us.When we stayed recently we took a 40min drive over the mountains, which is beautiful and worth it, to The National Showcaves and that was an amazing day out and worth the money.We also took a train ride on the mountain railway which was so much fun.The pool table is a brilliant option, especially if the weather is a little inclement. As a family of 9 with 2 dogs we highly recommend St Albans Church for a great holiday.We will obviously return again in the future.
