About this property

Llanidloes 4 miles. A classic cabin perfect for a complete escape, nestled in the peace and tranquillity of the valley close to the impressive Clywedog Dam just a short drive from the thriving rural town of Llanidloes. The cabin is a perfect romantic retreat for couples or a base for a pair of friends looking for a rural escape while being close to popular towns and great days out. All on one level, there is a cosy bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a galley style kitchen leading to a comfy sitting room with a dining area, countryside views and the chance to live amongst fabulous birds and wildlife, with foxes and badgers being regular visitors. Outside, you can sit on the raised veranda and enjoy the soothing sounds of nature, delight in the local bird life or throw a ball for your dog on the adjacent paddock. The pretty valley with the River Clywedog running through it down to the ancient market town of Llanidloes where it meets the River Severn, boasts the impressive Clywedog Dam, beautiful reservoirs and the industrial heritage of nearby Bryntail lead mines. You are ideally placed to enjoy the stunning undulating countryside with multiple walking and cycle trails such as the Severn Way and Glyndwrs Way passing through the pretty nearby town of Llanidloes or perhaps explore the diverse landscape of the Hafren Forest with a riverside boardwalk and views of the Cascade Falls. The area offers numerous outdoor activities with fabulous nature reserves peppering the countryside around Newtown, fishing and horse-riding. Slightly further afield, you are half an hour’s drive from popular Newtown, the town of Rhayader in the Cambrian Mountains and the gateway to the imposing Victorian Dams and reservoirs of the Elan Valley. A 45 minute drive takes you to Builth Wells, home of the Royal Welsh Showground or for a complete change of scene you are less than an hour’s drive from the sandy beaches of Aberdovey or the Victorian seaside resort of Aberystwyth. A perfect rural retreat close to a popular market town ideal for a couple looking for a romantic break or friends looking to relax in the peace and tranquillity of a secluded chalet yet being close to fabulous days out and countryside walks from the door.

The market town of Llanidloes nestles on the eastern slopes of the Cambrian Mountains, with access to some of the most unspoilt and undiscovered scenery both Wales and the Welsh/Shropshire Borders have to offer. Locally, there are plenty of activities to enjoy, with walking, riding, fishing, tennis, golf, swimming and shooting all available within 10 miles. Further afield, but still within easy touring distance, are a host of attractions: Powis Castle (National Trust), with its world famous gardens, is just 20 miles away; the Welsh Coast, with its fine beaches, is less than an hour’s drive; the Shropshire towns of Ludlow and Shrewsbury are within easy reach, as are the popular North Wales destinations of Llangollen and Snowdonia. A picturesque region, ideal for an action packed holiday or a relaxing break.
