You can find everything you need in the quaint village of Llanfyllin, which is located in the beautiful Cain Valley and is bordered by hills and the Berwyn Mountains. Y Dolydd, a workhouse built in the early 19th century and featured in the BBC programme Restoration, is located in this area, which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and features a wide range of building types. Wonderful hiking and biking trails can be found in the Berwyn Mountains and in the hills of Llangynog. The beautiful Lake Vyrnwy, with its colourful mountains in the background and intriguing nature reserve, is conveniently close, and the thriving market town of Welshpool, with its many stores, art galleries, and excellent eateries, is only 14 miles distant. Both the beautiful Powys Castle and its renowned gardens, and the breathtaking Llanrhaeadr Waterfall, which plunges 240 feet and is surrounded by enchanted woods and high cliffs, are easily accessible. An ideal base from which to explore the natural beauty of nearby Mid Wales and the borderlands of Shropshire.
