As well as its Georgian architecture, you can follow Captain's Walk to see the remains of Brecon's medieval walls or visit The Royal Welsh Regimental Museum at Brecon Barracks. Take advantage of good weather to cruise the canal that links Brecon with Newport. The area is steeped in history with some of Europe s finest surviving castles, Brecon Castle (0.5 miles) overlooking the River Usk, Abergavenny Castle (20.6 miles) and Crickhowell Castle (14 miles) set against the spectacular hills. Local attractions include The Big Pit National Coal Museum, Blaenavon Iron Works (both 24 miles) and the National Showcaves Centre (19 miles), BikePark Wales (20 miles), and Zip World Tower (21 miles). Forming part of a pretty terrace on the front of the River Honddu, which you can cross to visit the Brecon Cathedral, this traditional cottage has a side entrance offering a warm welcome with a pretty courtyard. Step inside to the entrance hall where you will find space for coats and boots. The cottage has many levels with wooden stairs that lead down to a cosy lounge area with low ceilings, exposed beams, and a warming wood burner. There is a TV and table and chairs for two relax while enjoying a chapter of a good book from one of the bookshelves or enjoy a game of cards. The kitchen is off the entrance, well equipped with an electric oven and hob, fridge with ice compartment and washing machine. There is a breakfast bar and stools perfect for a morning coffee. From the hallway, you have access to the shower room with shower and WC. A short staircase leads to two bedrooms, a spacious king size room to the front of the cottage and a single room to the rear. Open the French doors from the kitchen and step out onto the courtyard. There is a table and chairs where you can relax and enjoy the sun. If guests choose, they can climb to the top of the garden up steep stone steps where you can relax and take in the rooftop views. There is storage for bikes. Roadside parking is available throughout the town with a pay and display car park 400 metres from the cottage. Need to know: 2 bedrooms 1 king size and 1 single. 1 shower room with shower and WC. Electric oven and hob, fridge with ice compartment and washing machine. Wood burner (first basket of logs included). TV and DVD in lounge. Courtyard garden with table and chairs also climb the rustic steps to the steep layered garden. Pay and display car park 400 metres from the property. Storage for bikes in shed.
