Guests say

The Bickney is a well-equipped, comfortable cottage praised for its cleanliness and superb rural location, ideal for exploring Pembrokeshire and enjoying local wildlife. While some guests find the property dated, the charm and tranquility, along with a good internet connection, contribute to a pleasant stay.

Guests generally find the cottage clean, with one mentioning it was very clean. However, there are comments about a bathroom cabinet not being cleaned inside, which suggests room for improvement.

The location is highly appreciated for its quietness, proximity to the coast, and beautiful surroundings, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.

The cottage is described as comfortable and well-organised, with a cosy atmosphere. However, some guests note the modest size and suggest that space could be better utilised.

The property is well-equipped for a holiday stay, but several reviews point out that it could benefit from updates and maintenance, particularly in the garden and with the provision of modern amenities like a smart TV.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the owners, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

We booked this cottage last minute so the fee was very reasonable. Whilst I have given the cottage an overall good rating, I would like to make a few observations. 1. The cleanliness of the cottage was excellent with every surface very clean and the furnishings all well maintained. 2. We stayed in February and the weather was not very kind to us. Whilst the cottage seemed warm initially, all the doors to the rooms were left wide open upon our arrival. This meant that the ancient Economy 7 heaters in each room were very quick to cool down during our first evening. We were freezing by 7pm and resorted to the very inefficient fan heater to keep us relatively warm in the sitting room. This situation slightly improved during the remaining days of our stay when we kept all doors closed as much as possible. The Economy 7 heaters really need to be replaced with more efficient heaters if you want to continue to rent during winter months.3. The kitchen was well equipped but freezing cold due to complete lack of heating (Economy 7 heater in the attached dining room was broken and the small fan heater was not up to the job). Oven, microwave and other equipment worked very well for our limited cooking.4. It took us a few days to realise there was a heated towel rail in the bathroom. Please could you add this to the vague instructions about not touching the heating controls and recycling?5. I am sure this would be a good cottage for summer months but, as a previous reviewer said, it could be really amazing if some refurbishment activity was done (new kitchen units and some care and attention paid to the garden including some natural defences (hedges, fences perhaps to protect from the wind). The views were spectacular and we did some lovely walks in the area. We made the best of a challenging week with 50mph wind gusts and lots of rain.

The property is rather isolated but on a road and within a few minutes of the Porth Gain. There are two other rentals on the same site, the Bickney being the largest. Parking on site. It has everything you need for a normal holiday including a few portable heaters for when the weather changes. The kitchen equipment was generous.

A lovely quiet spot in beautiful Pembrokeshire. The cottage had everything we needed. It was very clean and a great base from which to explore the area.
