On the outskirts of Llangwm, Pembrokeshire, is this fantastic five-bedroom house, Hillocky Cottage.Enjoying an idyllic location near the Cleddau river (pronounced Kleth-I) and with easy access to Pembrokeshire’s stunning coastline, Hillocky Cottage is a wonderful dog-friendly dwelling for a group or family of 10 looking for their next adventure to South West Wales.

You will find a large kitchen/diner, featuring a washing machine, dishwasher and TV so you can whip up meals whilst enjoying your favourite programs.If the weather is nice, dine alfresco out on the patio.



After dinner, retire to the large family room or sitting room, both with woodburning stoves, one offering period style ambience with plush armchairs, the other more contemporary with large sofas to sink back into as you watch your favourite programs.



On the ground floor, you will find two well-appointed shower rooms, one being en-suite to the downstairs bedroom.Whilst suitable for those with limited mobility, access to this room is not step free.Throughout, the cottage is on varying levels and not step free.The owners can provide details if required.



There are two stairwells up to the first floor, where there are four further bedrooms, two arranged as doubles and two twins.Two rooms access the bathroom and two use the shower room downstairs but there is an adjoining door allowing access throughout the upstairs area.



There is ample coat hanging space and an enclosed boiler room provides drying space for wet walking boots and shoes.

Three medium sized plastic dog baskets and a water bowl are provided.Please bring your own dog bedding, bowls, poo bags etc.Dogs are not allowed on the furniture nor upstairs.The back lawn is gated but only semi-secure and dogs must be supervised if there is the possibility of them jumping the wall into the back field or neighbour's gardens.



In the local village you can find an ample menu and local ales at the Cottage Inn, or stock up on essentials at the small but well-stocked convenience store and Post Office.Supermarket shopping is not far away in Pembroke Dock and Haverfordwest, both about 6 miles away.Head for the Co-Op in Neyland for late Sunday evening shopping.Haverfordwest has two retail parks with the normal names associated with them.



In Haverford West you can tour the Town Museum, The Welsh Spitfire Museum, marvel at the fascinating ruins of Haverfordwest Priory or spot the local wildlife in the Priory Saltings Nature Reserve.



On the way to Haverfordwest is the Mayfield Golf & Driving Range, a 9 hole pay & play plus a 12 bay all-weather floodlit driving range.At Rosemarket is the Dawn To Dusk golf with 9 or 18 hole pay & play courses which enjoys views of the Preseli Hills.



Fishing tours can be booked out of the port of Milford Haven.Those seeking thrills and adventure can visit the popular Heatherton World of Adventures, Wild Lakes Wales, Oakwood Theme Park and the Blue Lagoon Water Park for fun-filled family days out.



Pembrokeshire isn’t a gourmet food destination but there are many attractive pubs and cafes serving quality food and drinks that you won’t be disappointed in this respect.



The cottage sits on the edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park with countryside views front and rear.



There are several circular walks from the cottage of varying lengths.The views from Benton Woods are worthy of the walk.On the East side of the Cleddau reached by a short drive over the Cleddau road bridge (toll free now) there are pub/cafe centric walks. On the North side of the Cleddau there is the esteemed Picton Castle Gardens where you will find 60-acres of woodland gardens surrounding one of Pembrokeshire’s finest stately homes.



Many areas of the Cleddau aren’t readily accessible by foot and are best explored from the water.If you have a small boat or canoe, you can launch it at the landing slip at Black Tar Other sites exist along the Cleddau and on Milford Haven.



In the coastal park area, there are more beaches than you can comfortably visit in a week, all within a short drive.Most have Seaside and/or Green Coast awards.There are sheltered beaches along the Haven and rugged Atlantic cliffs & beaches on the West Coast. The South coast beaches are somewhere in-between.All are dog-friendly but have restricted areas in Summer.Many offer water sports activities.There are “in season” car parking charges but most have well maintained toilets, presently free to use.



There are many day trip destinations in the North end of the Coast Park, including St Davids, Whitesands, Strumble Head & Poppits Sands, and beyond in to Ceredigion up to Aberystwyth there are several coastal and inland places worth a tour.To the West, take a boat tour to Ramsey, Skomer or Skokholm to see the sea birds and ocean mammals.

Logs - There will be a pail of logs provided which will last a few hours if it’s a chilly evening or if you just like the ambience that a log fire provides.See the picture of the Sitting Room.If you are a fan of log fires and expect to use them frequently during your stay it would be wise to order nets of logs before your holiday.There are many suppliers in Pembrokeshire.Buying small bags from garages or supermarkets can be expensive.Kiln dried hardwood is the most economical even though it is more expensive.It burns hotter, therefore less is used.

Pembrokeshire's Llangwm is a lovely community perched on the banks of the River Cleddau. Pembrokeshire's coast, accessible via this charming village, boasts a wide range of activities for visitors of all ages. A tavern serves food, and there's a little village store where you can stock up on necessities. You may take a small boat from the Black Tar landing slip in the village to see the Cleddau from a new perspective, while still being close enough to the family-friendly beaches and a plethora of walking and cycling trails in the undulating countryside.

Note: The highchair is a low-level baby chair which can be put on the frame to bring it up to table height; it is not fitted with a harness.
