Guests are enamoured with Anne's Hut, praising its peaceful and beautiful setting, cosy and comfortable ambiance, and the warm hospitality of the hosts. The property's cleanliness, thoughtful touches, and well-equipped facilities contribute to a restorative and luxurious experience. The natural surroundings and wildlife enhance the charm, making it a highly recommended retreat.
Reviewers consistently mention the cleanliness of the hut, describing it as 'very clean and organised', which indicates that the property is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
The location is frequently highlighted for its beauty and tranquillity, with guests appreciating the natural darkness, wildlife, and proximity to good walks and local attractions. The only minor drawback mentioned is the challenging approach from one direction.
Comfort is a standout feature, with guests finding the hut warm, cosy, and comfortable. The bed and seating are specifically praised, as well as the luxurious bath and the overall cosy atmosphere.
Facilities are described as excellent, with a well-equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom, and enjoyable outdoor fire pit. The mention of central heating, a log burner, and high-quality bath amenities suggest top-notch maintenance.
Guests are delighted by the thoughtful touches, including a generous hamper and prepped fire pit. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it's important to note that such personal touches, though likely, are not guaranteed for every stay.
If you’re looking to get away from it all, Anne’s Hut will transport you into total seclusion, amongst the greenery and the tranquillity of the Wye Valley. An idyllic romantic retreat with not one, but two luxurious shepherd's huts cleverly linked together by a decked patio area, and set in a green and totally secluded meadow and on the edge of natural woodland, close to the ancient settlement of Penterry.
With everything you could need, these shepherd’s huts make ingenious use of space while still offering opulence and luxury. Here you can truly relax and embrace nature's own entertainment of the dawn and dusk chorus, and the hoot of owl.
The main hut provides a comfy, warm and very well-equipped living area, complete with a wood burning stove and leather armchairs; the bijou kitchen finds space for a gas oven and under-counter fridge with ice-box, and the bedroom area showcases a generous super-king size bed. A hop, skip and jump across the decked terrace leads you to the generous dressing and bathroom, where you can choose from a long luxurious soak in the bath, which has been designed for sharing with central taps and a window just at the right height; or step into the walk-in shower for a more invigorating start to the day.
Despite the wonderful provision of indoor comfort and luxury, it is the outdoors that beckon, where you can swing on the hammock drifting off to the surround sound of nature; or snuggle up in a blanket by the fire pit while supper sizzles. More garden furniture can be found on the decked terrace between the two huts. For a spectacular view, wander a short way to a spot just above Anne’s Hut which once housed a Roman Fort, and discover the perfect 360 degree vista featuring seven counties.
The ancient settlement of Penterry sits high on the hill between Chepstow and Tintern, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the local area is both beautiful and steeped in history. Chepstow boasts the oldest stone built castle in the land, and Tintern with its majestic Abbey and stunning setting is a must see. For gastronomes, there is a Michelin restaurant just 20 minutes away and there are many other excellent eateries close by. Historians and castle lovers have no less than five castles to choose from within a 20 minute radius; along with Llanthony Priory, which is outstandingly beautiful and just 40 minutes away. Or if you prefer to explore on two wheels, bicycles can be provided for your enjoyment.
Also available to book at this location is Orchard Cottage (sleeping two guests).
